Chapter Ten: Confronting the Truth

339 Words
Benita confronted Rachel, determined to uncover the truth. "Rachel, we need to talk," she said firmly. Rachel's innocent act was convincing. "What's there to talk about, Benita?" "Tave. You're manipulating him, and I want it to stop," Benita accused. Rachel's expression turned fragile, her voice trembling. "Manipulating him? Oh, Benita, you're so jealous and possessive. Tave's just being a good friend to me, and you're reading too much into it." Benita's anger rose, but Rachel's words struck a chord. Was she being too possessive? Was Tave really just being a good friend? Rachel continued, her voice weak and vulnerable. "Benita, I'm hurting. I'm still in love with Tave, and seeing him with you is killing me. Please, just let him go. He deserves someone who loves him truly." Benita felt a pang of doubt. Was she holding Tave back? Was Rachel the better choice for him? Just then, Tave arrived, and Rachel seized the opportunity. "Tave, Benita's been accusing me of manipulating you. She's so jealous and controlling," Rachel said, tears streaming down her face. Tave's expression turned cold. "Benita, is this true? Have you been accusing Rachel of manipulating me?" Benita was taken aback. "Tave, no! That's not what I meant. Rachel's been playing games, and I'm trying to protect our relationship." But Tave wasn't listening. He believed Rachel's fragile act, thinking Benita was the jealous and bitter girlfriend. "Benita, I can't believe you'd stoop so low. I need some space," Tave said, his voice firm. Benita felt a sting. Tave was choosing Rachel over her, believing Rachel's lies. She left the apartment, feeling defeated and heartbroken. Unbeknownst to Benita, Rachel's plan was working. She had framed Benita, making Tave believe she was the manipulative one. And Tave, blinded by his sympathy for Rachel, didn't realize he was falling into her trap. As Benita walked away, tears streaming down her face, Rachel smiled to herself. She had won this round, and Tave was one step closer to being hers again. Will Benita be able to overcome this storm?
