The wind howled through the towering Frostpeak Mountains as Kael raced across the rocky terrain in his wolf form.
Every stride sent pain through the wound in his side, but he refused to slow down.
Lyla's life depended on him.
Behind him, the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of crimson and gold. Night was falling, and with it came the bitter cold of the mountains.
The Valley of Spirits was less than an hour away.
If the ancient legends were true, it was a place where only the worthy could enter—and where the unworthy never returned.
---
Back at the Silver Claw Pack...
Lyla lay unconscious inside the pack's healing lodge.
Her breathing had become shallow.
Dark veins spread slowly from the silver-poisoned wound on her shoulder.
The poison was winning.
The healer crushed medicinal herbs into a paste and applied them carefully.
"It isn't enough," she whispered.
Alpha Rowan paced the room anxiously.
"There must be something else."
She shook her head.
"The herbs can only slow the poison."
Mira sat beside Lyla's bed, holding her hand.
"She has to wake up."
The healer sighed.
"She is fighting."
"But her wolf is growing weaker."
The room fell silent.

Meanwhile...
Kael reached the entrance to the Valley of Spirits.
A thick silver mist covered the ground.
Ancient trees stretched toward the heavens, their twisted branches glowing faintly beneath the moonlight.
No birds sang.
No insects buzzed.
The valley was unnaturally silent.
Kael shifted back into his human form.
He stepped forward cautiously.
The moment his foot crossed the valley's boundary, a deep voice echoed around him.
"Who enters the sacred valley?"
Kael looked around.
"I am Kael Nightfang, Alpha of the Black Moon Pack."
The mist began to swirl.
An enormous white wolf emerged from the shadows.
Its fur shimmered like moonlight.
Its eyes glowed with ancient wisdom.
"I am Arkan."
"Guardian of the Valley."
Kael bowed respectfully.
"I seek the Moon Blossom."
Arkan studied him carefully.
"Many have sought the flower."
"None returned."
"I know."
"Why should I allow you to pass?"
Kael looked toward the heart of the valley.
"Because someone I love is dying."
The guardian remained silent.
Then he asked,
"Would you surrender your own life to save hers?"
Kael answered without hesitation.
"Yes."
The guardian's glowing eyes softened.
"The valley will test your heart."
"If your answer was a lie..."
His voice thundered through the forest.
"...the valley itself will destroy you."
---
The mist parted.
A narrow stone path appeared.
Kael followed it.
As he walked deeper into the valley, strange whispers filled the air.
They sounded familiar.
Too familiar.
Suddenly, he stopped.
Standing before him was his father.
Alpha Lucian.
Exactly as he had looked on the day he died.
Kael's heart pounded.
"Father..."
Lucian smiled sadly.
"My son."
Kael knew it couldn't be real.
"You died."
"I did."
"Then this is an illusion."
Lucian nodded.
"The valley reflects the deepest desires of the heart."
Kael clenched his fists.
"I don't have time for this."
His father's expression became serious.
"You blame yourself."
Kael looked away.
"I should have protected you."
"No."
"You were only a boy."
"I wasn't strong enough."
Lucian stepped closer.
"You became stronger because of that pain."
Kael's eyes filled with tears.
"I miss you."
"I know."
Lucian smiled warmly.
"And I am proud of the Alpha you have become."
The words struck Kael harder than any blade.
Before he could respond, the vision faded into silver mist.
He was alone once more.
---
Far away...
Hidden inside an ancient cave...
The Shadow Fang leader stood before a large stone table covered in old maps.
The white-haired woman entered quietly.
"My Lord."
"The poison is working."
He nodded.
"And the Black Moon Alpha?"
"He entered the Valley of Spirits."
The leader smiled.
"Excellent."
She frowned.
"You wanted him to survive?"
"I need him alive."
He pointed toward an ancient prophecy carved into the stone wall.
"When the enemy Alpha reaches the Moon Blossom..."
He smiled coldly.
"...the final seal will break."
The woman looked confused.
"Then the prophecy is true?"
The leader turned toward the flickering torchlight.
"Very soon..."
He whispered.
"...the Blood Moon King will awaken."
---
Back in the valley...
Kael finally reached a crystal-clear lake.
In its center stood a single glowing flower.
The Moon Blossom.
Its silver petals shimmered beneath the full moon.
Relief flooded his heart.
He stepped toward the water.
Without warning, the lake erupted.
A massive serpent rose from the depths.
Its scales gleamed like black steel.
Its golden eyes locked onto Kael.
"I guard the blossom."
Its voice echoed across the valley.
"No one may take it."
Kael drew his sword.
"I don't wish to fight."
"You have no choice."
The serpent lunged.
Kael dodged just in time.
Its tail smashed against the rocks, sending shards flying in every direction.
Kael rolled across the ground and slashed at the creature's side.
The blade barely scratched its scales.
The serpent laughed.
"Steel cannot defeat me."
Kael realized brute strength would not be enough.
He remembered Arkan's words.
"The valley will test your heart."
This wasn't a battle of power.
It was a test of character.
Slowly, Kael lowered his sword.
"I won't fight you."
The serpent stopped.
"You surrender?"
"I seek the flower to save a life."
"Not to gain power."
The serpent stared at him for several moments.
Then, to Kael's surprise, it lowered its head.
"Few choose compassion over victory."
The waters grew calm.
"The Moon Blossom belongs to one whose heart is pure."
The serpent moved aside.
"You may take it."
Kael stepped into the shallow water and gently picked the glowing flower.
The moment he touched it, the blossom released a brilliant silver light that surrounded the entire valley.
The Moon Goddess's voice echoed softly through the air.
"The first trial is complete."
Kael looked around.
"The first?"
Before the light faded, another voice echoed through the valley.
It was not gentle.
It was cold.
Ancient.
Filled with hatred.
"So..."
The voice rumbled.
"...the chosen Alpha has finally arrived."
The ground began to shake violently.
A gigantic stone gate at the far end of the valley slowly opened.
Darkness poured from within.
Two burning crimson eyes appeared inside the ancient ruin.
Kael tightened his grip on the Moon Blossom.
Whatever was awakening inside the mountain...
It was far more dangerous than anything he had faced before.
