Chapter Seven WINNIE STOOD OUTSIDE Gracie’s Diner, still not sure this was the best place to set up a table. Still, the old lady who ran the place had offered her a spot outside, and Deran would be pissed if Winnie didn’t take it. This was why he brought her there, after all. Her task was to mingle with the locals and find out whatever she could that would aid him in whatever it was he had planned. The problem was, she had no clue as to what he had planned, so she didn’t know what information she was trying to pry out of people. It made no sense for him to be so closemouthed about things, especially if he wanted her help. She set up a small card table just to the west of the front door, the smell of cheap gasoline from the convenience store that shared the same building almost over-power
