Chapter Eight EZRA SAT ON the ground, his back against a towering cypress as he stared out at Crabgrass Creek, a couple of mallards drifting across the surface, the sun’s reflection on top of the rippling water. He felt a calmness every time he sat there, as if the water had healing powers for his soul. Of course, he knew Adira would tell him it actually did possess those qualities as one of the four magical elements of nature.
