“Jackie,” she laughed, “I have never had a failure.”
Turning her icy gaze on Ryan, she asked, “What about you Ryan? Are you willing to change for Jackie?”
“Mrs. Mabry,” he said passionately, “I love her and I’ll do whatever I can in order to keep her. I’ll do anything.”
“I have to tell you, Ryan,” Mrs. Mabry said, “that this is a very rigorous course and quite demanding at times. I am very particular. You have to be prepared to obey me instantly and without question. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Ma’am, I do and I will,” he said earnestly.
“Let’s get started then, shall we?” she said sweetly, pulling a stack of papers from her drawer and putting them in front of the couple. “These need to be signed first.”
