“It's okay. I just got here myself,” I said. I stood up and faced them, unsure of what to say or do. Alex held his mother's hand, looking at me with uncertainty as if trying to figure out if I was a good stranger or a bad one. “Are you really my dad?” he asked me. I wasn't sure how to answer the question. I still had my doubts that he was my son. This could be some kind of ploy on Ellen's part to get child support out of me even though I wasn't her kid's biological father.
