CHAPTER 5

As the ship sailed,Vivian was in the cabin she and Anna were made to stay. Due to how elaborate the ship was,the rooms were a lot bigger than she had expected.

The bed was nicely decorated and the room was furnished to give comfort to the occupant. Not every room was like theirs,but because they weren’t part of the crew,they were given the best room in the ship.

It was night and Vivian came out of her cabin to have a look around. She notices that the width of the ship was like that of a voyage ship and the aesthetics showed how old it was.

she approaches the forecastle deck,staring into the body of waters with her squirrels on her shoulders and she was feeding them some nuts.

Eiko jumps down from her shoulders and Gaston followed suit. They began chasing each other,climbing up the yard and then down. Vivian giggled as she watches them play and when she turns around,she could see Razor standing behind her with his hands clasped behind his back.

“Oh... Captain Razor,am I trespassing?” She asks,she was a bit fidgety.

“Not at all...” he gives her a brilliant smile,displaying his dazzling set of white teeth “...I am happy to see you standing there. You are very brave,you know. You don’t really know anyone around here and you are confident about your safety.”

“I believe that since you know the lady that asked we should use the ship,we are safer than ever.” She said.

He chuckles.

“Of course,you are. I was just trying to pull your legs...” he approaches her “...you are very young and adventurous,I can tell. But what are you doing trying to find a mysterious island that no one knows if it truly exists or not?”

He was standing in front of her. Vivian felt uncomfortable with the way he was too close to her that she had to take a step backwards.

“I don’t understand what you are talking about,Captain Razor.” She said.

“The lady who gave that paper to you,her husband died at sea,so did she as well...”

Vivian flinches.

“...They both had this fantasy of finding that island. If I am not mistaken,she must have given that paper to you or your sister a long time ago before she died. Am I right?” Razor said.

Vivian was dumbfounded.

‘Wait,What?!!! Dead!!! How’s that possible?!!!’ She thought,staring at Razor with bewildered eyes.

“You haven’t answered my question,Miss.” Razor said,breaking her chain of thought.

Vivian blinked several times in utter confusion as she tries to make sense of what she was told.

“Yes... you... you are right. She actually gave it to my mother and my mother gave it to me. All I ever wanted,was to embark on an adventurous journey. To explore this mysterious world and maybe someday,find the island.”

Razor c***s a brow at her.

“Are you talking about the famed island of the Titans? The island that was hidden away from the world??”

“Ahhh... yes.” She stoically replies.

Razor slowly looks her down and then up. He takes a step closer till he was in front of her. Vivian’s butt collided with the bannister and when she looks back,she could see the bowsprit of the big ship.

Razor clutches the bannister as he leans forward to whisper in her ears. Vivian’s body stiffened and she puts her hands by her side,clenching her fists as she leaned backwards to avoid colliding with his face.

“Have you ever thought about how beguiling your eyes are? Very distinctive and precise each time they stare at a person or an object. Full of miseries and mischief. They hold a lot of secrets and tales so exciting and interesting to hear. Overall,they are very attractive.” He whispers.

“Are you trying to flirt with me,Captain Razor? ...You should know,I am not that kind of person.” She faintly said.

Razor held the back of her head with a hand as they locked gazes. Vivian found him very attractive as he was quite the handsome man,but couldn’t bring herself to the point of getting weakened by his seductive stare. His enchanting brown eyes were locked with hers and his black lengthy hair,swayed with the direction of the wind.

“It’s not a bad thing to as a man,my instinct betrays me. You are very adorable and I would to—“

Before he could bring his lips to touch hers,she quickly pushes him backwards. The force was so strong,that he landed on the deck with his butt.

“I’m,I’m sorry Captain Razor. I need to go back to my cabin. I am really tired. I apologize.” She said and then,she briskly walks out on him.

Razor slowly rose from the deck as he watches her scurries to the quarters with her squirrels behind her. He smiles whilst rubbing his jaw gently.

“I can see that you are hiding something from me,young lady. It’s just time. With time... I will find out what it is.” He said to himself.

Vivian quickly enters the cabin,panting as she locks the door behind her. Anna sat on the bed and she was reading a book while Eiko and Gaston scrambled to the soft bed that was made for them.

She looks up from it to see Vivian staring at the door as she stood stiffly. She closes the book and then,she pushes her glasses inwardly.

“Are you alright,Vivi?” She asks.

Vivian turns around to look at her. Her eyes were bulging out of her sockets as she was still in shock. She quickly walks to the bed.

“I don’t think so,Anna. That Captain... I met with him when I was outside. That strange old woman that gave us the paper and the map. You wouldn’t believe what he told me about her.” She said in hush tones,moving into the bed.

Anna’s interest was piqued. She drops the book beside her with a serious expression on her face.

“What were you told?” She asks.

“Razor claims that she died a long time ago while voyaging on the seas.”

Anna gasps surprisingly and she covers her mouth with her hands.

“What in the name of God? Are you sure he told you that??”

“I am not lying and I don’t want to believe it. If she’s actually dead,then why would she want us to embark on this journey that claimed her life?”

“Why are you asking me that question,Vivi? Are you not the one who wanted to go on an adventurous trip at any cost??” Anna frowns at her.

“I did say that I wanted to,but what I am only surprised about,is what Razor said.”

“Did he probe you on anything else?” She asks.

“No,he didn’t. But he tried to kiss me.” She said,and she was disgusted.

“What a moron! I can’t believe that he would try to take advantage of you. Just because we are the only ladies on the ship,doesn’t warrant such disrespect! I am going out there,right now!! And I am going to give him a piece of my mind!!!” Anna snaps.

“Don’t do that. No...” she quickly grabs Anna by the wrist “...don’t try to create a ruckus. He probably was trying to see if I was that easy. He is a man after all. They will first misbehave and then,when they see that you are not the type,they will not press further.”

“Ugh! You are so annoying.”

“Just let it be,Anna. It is not worth the stress. Besides...” she yawns “...I need to sleep. I am very tired. Goodnight.” She said.

Anna watches her as she switches off the bed lamp that laid on the top of a cabinet beside her. She glances at the book that laid beside her with a frown on her face as she thought about what Vivian just said.
