ONCE THEY GOT OUT OF the city, Jake opened all the windows in the SUV and let the air whoosh around. They didn't speak. Jake was a woman of few words. Like Kissera, she probably had a lot on her mind. The moon was full and most of the time Jake would already be up at the compound organizing the hunt. Something must have been going on in wolf land to keep her in the city so late. Bringing Kissera, the f****d up vampire, will surely help.
“I'm sorry to muck up your plans.”
Jake kept both hands on the wheel and stared straight ahead. “No big thing.”
“I've put you out.”
“Don't worry about it, Kiss. I'm glad to have you with us.”
“I could've just come up on my own.”
