Chapter 2

"She has been out for three days now,her wounds have healed enough for her to be awake now." Standing next to Lydia who was laying on the bed unconscious, were two men,an elderly man and a young man. "I need her to be awake as soon as possible because I can't have her staying here for long." The young man said as he looked intensely at Lydia hoping it would jerk her up from her unconscious state. "Well, all we can do now is pray and hope that she wakes up soon, Lord Richard." The elderly man said and they both exited the room. A light shone brightly on her face, Lydia slowly opened her eyes, scanning the unfamiliar environment she was in. She turned her head slowly to see a huge figure sitting on a seat across the bed she was laying in. She felt so weak in her bones but gathered all her strength to sit up. "Excuse me?" Lydia said weakly. The dark figure turned back to look at her sitting up. "You are awake, that's good." He had the sexiest eyes Lydia had ever seen, the broadest shoulder. There was a cold aura around him but it didn't alter his striking physical features. "Now that you are awake,l give you a day for you to be on your way. I'll have them pack up some food for your journey back to wherever you are from." He said coldly while looking at her. "I'm sorry but who are you? Where am I? Who am I?" Fear could be heard in Lydia's voice. "Who are you? You tell me." Richard said to her as he looked puzzled at her questions. "Uhm....uhm....l don't know"Lydia held her head in an attempt to remember who she was, she felt like the right words were at the tip of her tongue but couldn't get herself to say it out loud. "What do you mean by you don't know." His brows rose up in confusion. "I can't remember anything. What happened to me?" She asked pleadingly. "Well that's for you to answer but my pack and I found you in the woods when we were out for a hunt. You were practically lifeless." Just then the middle aged man walked in. There was a look of surprise and glee on his face seeing Lydia up after so long. "Oh Thank God you are up already, how are you feeling?" He moved closer to her and observed her gently as Richard watched. "She claims she doesn't remember anything at all." He said making it sound obvious that he wasn't buying her story of not remembering anything. "Then she must be suffering from memory loss, it is possible considering her wounds and how she was brought back here." He said to Richard. They both left her side to a part of the room to discuss. "Lord Richard, She seems to be suffering from memory loss,l don't know how long it will take for her to regain her memories but I will help her treatments."He took a deep pause and just as Richard was about to say something, he cut in. "Before you object, know how badly you want her out of here but we can't possibly send her away in that state." He said calmly. "It was your idea to help her when we found her in the woods. I want you to do your best to help her regain her memory." Richard looked back to see Lydia looking in their direction hoping to hear their conversation. He grabbed a book from the seat he was sitting in and left the room without saying anything more. "He has agreed to you staying here until you regain your memories, now all you have to do is rest." He said with a smile on his face. "Thank you sir." Lvdia said. "Call me Dean. First we need a name for you,but you know what let's focus on you gaining your strength." Dean said. "Good morning Lord Richard." Lydia smiled widely as she greeted Richard who was still half asleep on the bed. "Where is Dean?" He was surprised to see Lydia in his chambers. "Sir, he has assigned me to take care of all your needs. I have drawn up a bath for you sir." Lydia moved closer to the window and drew open the curtains. "Tell Dean I need to see him." He got out of bed squinting his eyes at the sudden brightness in the room. "Yes sir." Lydia smiled as she was glad he didn't object to her working for him. She had expected him to be against the idea and probably send her away. "Lord Richard, why aren't you asleep?" Lydia asked Richard who was standing outside his chambers. He wore the saddest look Lydia had ever seen on him and he looked so lonely and in despair. "What are you doing here?" He clearly was irritated at Lydia for seeing him in his moment of weakness. "I also couldn't sleep so I decided to come out for a walk. Is anything bothering you." She said, ignoring the irritation in his voice. He stayed quiet as he avoided answering her; neither did he look at her. Lydia took the courage and walked up to him. "I feel confused. I don't know who I am,l don't know if I have any family or if they are looking for me. I feel so lost." She said, She knew if she didn't open up about her feelings, Richard wouldn't either. "Well I guess we all have our share of problems.Tonight makes it two years since my Luna,Anna went missing, or died,I don't know." He took a deep breath. Lydia could feel the pain in the breath he took. "Missing or dead?" Was she missing or had she died,Lydia couldn't understand. "We had gone on a hunt with the pack when we got ambushed. We were outnumbered and I couldn't save her. She fell off the cliff there, we were on a search when we found you in the woods." He said. "I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope she is alive somewhere out there and one day comes back to you." Lydia meant it. "I promised my pack I was going to move on if we didn't find any trace of her from our last search and besides it has been two years." Clearly he couldn't move on despite the results from the last search. "You were able to save me though, so for that I am grateful." Lydia smiled at him. Lydia stared at the lovely sight before her. It was night and most of the children in the village were all gathered, sitting under a big tree with an old man telling a story. Lydia moved closer to the gathering to join them, nearby was Richard seated amongst the children. "What is the prophecy about?" A little boy asked the old man. "Well,it has been going on for centuries that a new Alpha will rise on the night of the blood moon." He said. "If the prophecy has been going on for centuries, when then will it come true?" A teenage girl asked. "No one knows when the prophecy of the Alpha will come true. It is said that the Alpha will become the ruler of all Alphas as he will be the most powerful." The old man said, smiling as he looked into the moon. Something about the gathering felt really familiar to Lydia. She watched as Richard handled the children with so much love and care. He felt different from his usual cold self and it was obvious how much the children loved and respected him. Lydia didn't notice the tears trickling down her cheeks and certainly didn't hear being called. "Mia!!!" She felt a light tap on her shoulders and turned to see Richard looking at her. He was surprised to see the tears on her face and without thinking twice reached to clean her tears. They had agreed on naming her Mia as she couldn't remember her name, and despite it being some months, she hadn't gotten used to the name and probably never will. "What is wrong?" Richard's calm voice cut into her thoughts. "I'm sorry Lord Richard, I guess I was really moved at seeing the children gathered that way." She quickly put on a smile. "Well I can only imagine what you must be feeling. Walk with me" He said calmly and led the way away from the gathering. "I know that with you not remembering anything from your past, you have so many questions and probably feel out of place here, but I want you to know that you are a part of the pack." Lydia looked up to him when he took a pause. "Despite the fact that I don't have any powers or strength?"She asked calmly while still looking into her eyes. They had all figured out that she had no powers nor strength when she started working for Richard and couldn't do things a wolf with powers could do. "You are still a part of us with or without your powers Mia." He smiled gently at her and kept walking. They had grown closer after they realized she had no powers and strength coupled with her losing her memories. "There will be a thunderstorm tonight, make sure you close the windows." Richard said and walked into his chambers. Lightning flashed in giant forks with thunder that shook the walls of the chambers. Lydia laid in bed with beads of sweat on her face as she shivered like the trees outside. "Mama!!!!" Lydia kept calling out from her sleep. She woke up startled to find Richard shaking her. He had worry and fear painted on his face. "Mia!! You are safe now." He hugged Lydia just as another thunder shook the walls of the chamber. "I'm not Mia. My name is Lydia." Tears were rolling down Lydia's eyes as she called out her name. "You have regained your memories?" He asked with surprise and glee on his face. Lydia could only nod her head before bursting into tears.
