HER - Chapter 12: It's Like We Speak A Different Language (1)

I thought I’ll never love again after I experienced such tragic ending when I fell in love with my own brother but Jun came to my life.

He would die for me so how could I not love this man who’s willing to risk his life for my sake.

Unlike any other men who only do things just to impress me, he’s doing anything to make me happy, that’s why I decided to be his.

2 weeks later, after his 21st birthday and the night that I finally gave my everything to him, JHMC have a Halloween themed decoration.

Jun is still in a bind because of the vacation leave I took last August, so having this kind of event every month in the hospital is something we can’t get used to since it’s not an ordinary company where people works and get paid for their jobs.

“A costume party on Saturday night, huh?” reading the poster hanging on the bulletin board.

“Nurse Nevaeh, what costume are you going to wear for the event?” Nurse Ji asking me enthusiastically. “You have to spill it now, so no one will get the same character as you, we don’t want to be compared.”

“I don’t know yet, I just seen the poster, Jun didn’t even tell me that he got this kind of event this week.” walking towards the lockers’ room.

“I’m giving you until midnight to decide for your costume, everyone is waiting for your answer so think about it carefully.” Nurse Ji leaving me alone as I change into my nurse’s uniform.

“Until midnight?? But that’s only for 2 hours!” looking at the door. “Oh, great! I don’t even have a costume so how would I decide??”

After changing into my uniform, I do the rounds to check every room and see to it that all are sleeping safe and sound in their beds.

“Caught you.” walking towards the patient who has been admitted because of her broken legs. “It’s way past your bedtime, why are you still up? What are you hiding in your blanket??”

“Uh … nothing.” avoiding my gaze. “I’m going to sleep now, you may leave, Nurse Hera.” lying on her bed while turning her back against me.

“Oh alright, I’m off now.” pretending to walk out and closed the door then tip toeing to see what she’s hiding. “It’s just a doll, why are you hiding it from me?” saw her surprised reaction.

“You startled me!” touching her chest. “Please don’t tell anyone that I’m still playing with my doll, I’m already 13 and I shouldn’t be playing with toys for kids, though Red is not a toy for me but a friend.”

“Who says 13-year-old girls can’t play with toys anymore?? When I was 14, I’m still hugging a teddy bear as I sleep so there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Also, you said, Red is your friend, she’s a beautiful doll, you don’t have to hide her.” looking at her doll.

“Is it true? You’re hugging a teddy bear even you’re already 14, you’re not lying to me just to make me feel better??” giving me a suspicious look. “Is it really alright to keep Red beside me??”

“If that’s what makes you sleep well, I don’t see anything wrong about that. Believe it or not but I can’t sleep if there’s nothing in my arms, sometimes I do hug myself if there’s no pillow or anything at all for me to embrace.” telling her my sleeping habits.

“To be honest, it’s not because I still want to play but Red’s the last present I received from my mother before she died so she’s precious to me. But father doesn’t want to see me holding onto Red when I sleep, so whenever I woke up in the morning, the first thing I always do is look for her from my father.” she explained with sad expression.

“So, that’s why you’re hiding her?” smiling at her as I brush her hair. “It’s your father who told you that you can’t play with dolls anymore because you’re already 13, isn’t he?” see her nodding in response. “Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone about Red, this will be our little secret.”

“Thank you, Nurse Hera.” smiling back at me. “You’re not just beautiful but you’re pretty nice too.”

“Am I?” chuckles. “Anyway, sleep now, it’s not good for you to stay up this late at night.” tucking her in as I fix her blanket. “Sweet dreams.”

“Good night, Nurse Hera.” watching me walk out from her room.

“Good night, Candy.” closing her door gently. “Oh my gosh!” startled with Nurse Ji walking at the hallway oddly again. “Nurse Ji, you’re giving me a heart attack, you know that?? Why are you walking with your hair down on your face at the hallway?”

“I think I’ll go for a ghost, it’s easier to portray and I can wear anything I want.” Nurse Ji tying her hair back.

“You’re going to scare the kids if you do that again.” walking along with her. “That’s not a good idea since we’re in the pediatric department.”

“Ah right, I can’t be too scary.” Nurse Ji thinking deeply. “Maybe I’ll just go with the fairy godmother. How about you, have you already decided what your character is?”

“A doll in a red gown.” inspired by Candy’s doll. “I already gave my answer so stop asking me over and over again, alright?”

“I need to tell this to everyone.” Nurse Ji running away to spread the news to our colleagues.

“Haist.” shaking my head as I watch her run like a kid. “She’s really peculiar, oh well, as long as she gets along with everyone.”

It only took half an hour until every personnel knows what my character is for the Halloween event.

A few days later and it’s finally the day that everyone is waiting for.

I went at the South Mansion first to get my red gown, since I can go home anytime that I like after I settle things with my parents but still, I’m staying out to avoid someone.

“So, you only showed up just to get a gown from your room, huh?” Mama Rhea embracing me before I get in to my car.

“I’ll have dinner with you and Papa next time. I’m on a night shift and I just woke up at 7pm which is past your dinner time so I can’t possibly tell you to wait for me since I don’t know what time I’ll wake.” pulling away from her. “Papa.” embracing my father too.

“When are you coming back home and live with us again, sweetheart?” Papa Cronus patting my back.

“Maybe next year, after my 1-year contract with JHMC, not sure if I’m going to renew because I’m dating my boss’s son.” pulling away.

“You already know what’s good for you.” Papa Cronus nodding at me.

“I better go now; my shift starts at 10pm but I have to be early tonight for the party.” getting in at the driver’s seat of my Bugatti.

“Visit us often and not when you only need to get something.” Mama Rhea said out loud. “You coldhearted brat!”

“Yeah, I love you too Mama!” waving my hand to her. “You too, Papa!” driving away from the South Mansion’s parking lot.

When I reached the gate, I saw Zeus’s car coming and he put his window down to call my name with a big smile on his face.

“Hera! Can we talk??!” Zeus speaking loudly for me to hear him.

“I’ll give you a minute to say what you want to say brother.” stopped the car for him as he gets inside my car and sit on the passenger seat.

“I miss you so much, Hera.” Zeus staring at me.

“You’re wasting your time from talking nonsense, you only have 30 seconds left.” looking at my wrist watch that Jun gave me.

“I still love you, break up with Jun.” grabbing my hand.

“If you don’t let go of my hand, I’m going to break yours.” Gazing at him coldly. “You know I mean what I say, right?”

“Fine, I won’t touch you.” releasing my hand from his grip. “Just do what I say, break up with him, I can’t bear to see him touching you as he pleases, you only belong to me Hera.”

“Jun and I already make love, a few times actually.” laughed at him. “I don’t belong to you or to anyone, but I choose to give all of me to him.”

“You can’t be serious.” tears falling from his eyes as he looks at me in disbelief. “I know you still love me that’s why you keep on providing for our child, you keep on living as her mother even if you’re apart.”

“I love Hebe because I’m her mother, not because you’re her father.” frowning at him. “You should stop now Zeus, it’s not loves anymore but obsession, you gotta learn how to moved on and accept the fact that we’re never be together. We’re siblings, we already committed that gravest sin before and that’s enough. I don’t love you anymore like I loved you in the past, and the only relationship we can have is being a family to each other. I’m your older sister and you’re my younger brother, and we’re going to stay like that until the day we die.”

“I rather die than let other man have you.” he sneers at me.

“Don’t say that! And please don’t think or do stupid things!” yelling at him. “I know you’ll find someone else and you’ll love her with all of your life. You’re just unstable now and not thinking straight, that’s why you’re saying things that you don’t even mean. You’re gonna get through this, someone will fix you and when that person comes to your life, love and cherish her.” tapping his shoulder.

“I’ll never love someone else but you, I don’t need anybody else.” holding my hand on his shoulder.

“Yes, you are, you need somebody else.” holding his hand with both of my hands. “I also told myself before that I don’t need anybody else, but Jun proved me wrong. I’m lonely and he released me from my depression, he always cheers me up and my happiness is important to him. He’s the right man for me and I love him, so please let me go.”

“This isn’t over yet. You’re just distracted and you think you’re in love with him, but no.” shaking his head as he gets out from my car. “No.”

“Oh brother, I feel sorry for you.” watching him get inside at the backseat of his car. “Take care of your young master.” telling his driver before he drives away after bowing his head to me.

I mean every word that I said to Zeus which makes me realized what I truly feel for Jun.

I need Jun because I love him and not, I love him because I need him.

I went to my space first and doll myself up before I drove to the hospital and join everyone to the party.

I’m not an attention-seeker but when I got off my car and made my way to the lounge where everyone is gathering, their eyes are on me.

I saw Jun talking with other doctors and when he saw me looking at him, he made his way through the crowd to stand in front of me.

“Are you sure, you’re attending a Halloween event and not a beauty pageant?” smiling at me as he keeps his hands on his pockets.

“I’m a doll in a red gown, can’t you tell with how I look tonight?”

“No, all I see is a goddess in red dress standing right in front of me, and I’m holding back myself from kissing her in public.” he said.

“Good for you, but I can’t hold it back.” putting my hands on his nape as I kiss his lips in front of everybody.

If not for the conversation I had with Zeus earlier, I won’t have the courage to show how I really feel for Jun, I’m so in love with him.

With the crowd cheering while watching our public display of affection to each other, the more I’m convinced that I made the right choice.

But after the overwhelming romantic feeling, getting back to reality somehow made me feel shy and wanted to disappear at that moment.

“Wow! Nurse Hera, you’re so beautiful!” children gathering around me.

“I told you she’s a princess!” a girl telling to other kids

“Nurse Hera.” boy pulling the skirt of my dress as he hands me a flower

“Is this for me?” sitting down to be on his level. “Thank you, cute little prince.” giving him a hug.

While hugging me back the little boy whispered to my ear and kiss my cheek before he pulled away from me.

“That’s so romantic. Well, you’ve got to be healthy, in order for you to do that, my prince.” looking at him in the eyes.

“I’ll be healthy, and greater than that man.” boy pointing at Jun.

“Me??” Jun surprisingly point himself. “What did he tell you?” looking at me as he reached his hand to me and help me to stand up.

“I told Nurse Hera that I’m going to marry her when I grow up.” boy shouted at Jun while his hands on his waists.

“You want to fight?” Jun playing along. “Who else here wants to marry Nurse Hera, raise your hand??”

“Me!” almost everyone raising their hands.

“If that’s the case, you all have to defeat me.” taking his coat off.

“Are you sure you want to do this? They all ate candies.” warning him.
