Dahlia quickly tucked the paper into her notebook and glanced at Carter. Her chest throbbed as she saw him approaching, and she forced herself to stay calm, looking ahead. She could feel him sitting next to her. All the way home, her thoughts were consumed by the woman and the amount she had given her.
