Chapter 5 Regina carefully placed the handset in the cradle, doing everything she could to keep a strong grip on her temper. No sense in yelling and screaming and swearing in a space she was borrowing for the day, and certainly not in the courthouse of all places. She rubbed at her left ear, trying to ease the irritation from making more phone calls than she usually did in a week. She counted to ten, slowly and deliberately. Then she pounded both fists on the ancient desk several times, letting out a string of white-hot cuss words that she barely managed to keep under her breath. Pam popped around the corner again, exactly the way Regina hoped she wouldn’t. The sparkling glasses now perched on top of her short black and iron gray hair. “What happened?
