Chapter 6

872 Words

Chapter 6 Pete picked John up from the hotel that evening. He’d spent the day driving all over the county. There’d been no calls, but he could claim he was on patrol. He couldn’t grab any of the thoughts blowing through his head for very long. Seeing John had brought up all kinds of things he thought he’d dealt with long ago. Having John sitting right beside him brought up more. Please, Lord. Please give me guidance and tell me what to do here. Still no answer. John didn’t say anything as they pulled up to Pete’s house. Just sat there staring out the window. Pete knew he’d hurt John’s feelings, somehow. But he had no idea what to do to fix it. God probably wouldn’t help him out with that, either. They walked up the steps in silence. Went inside in silence. Headed for the kitchen.
