Carol was relieved as always that Miss Kellen kept the Christmas lights for both porches in place year-round. At least she and Sid wouldn’t be struggling to hang those tonight. Some poor handyman or electrician might have to scramble around and look for burned out bulbs or shorts later, but not tonight. According to carefully followed tradition, no outdoor lights would be lit until the tree was properly decorated. The house was nowhere near as ornate as the elaborate Victorians other wealthy folks had built back then.
