I spent a week at home, all alone, doing everything by myself, just wishing my mother hadn't died. Dylan was studying abroad and I had no wish to disturb him.  Just wishing that she hadn't gone out shopping where she met with an accident that changed my life, two years ago. I was never close to my dad or at least not in years.  I could hear them argue, though my room was far away from theirs. I would quickly change the pillowcase the next morning making sure they didn't find it wet, it would be enough for them to know I had heard.  I was hardly fourteen when I decided I wouldn't marry.
