Chapter Eight: Lucy's POV

1320 Words
Watching Jonathan be tased in front her eyes made Lucy see red. All the anger she held inside for her father came spewing out all at once. Lucy slowly turned to her mother and made one single glare that caused even Luka to flinch. Luka knew the look Lucy had and he was afraid for everyone in the room. Lucy's voice dropped an octave as she spoke with a deadly tone. "Never forget the day you became dead to me," she said to her mother. The cops in the room looked at Lucy with fear. She rolled up her sleeves while looking at her mother, exposing every bruise and cut on her arms, showing the cops and her mother the damage her father caused. She showed everyone that didn't know. She looked at the cops as their eyes widened with concern. With the most even, monotonous voice, she spoke to them. "These cuts and bruises are what my FATHER caused me. Every morning and every night my father would beat me. Jonathan SAVED me from that for the time I was with him. I left my house on my own free will," she said, her voice dripping with a venomous hatred. She lifted her shirt, showing the scars left from her surgery. "This was because my father stabbed me in my stomach. I had to get surgery done so that the bleeding would stop. Luka was there because my mother wouldn't have believed me." The officers went to take Jonathan to another room but Lucy stopped them with the look she gave. "Leave. Him. Alone," she said, even more hatred dripping from her voice. She looked at her mother, who was staring at her in disbelief. It only angered her more. "Don't look like you didn't know. You could hear my cries of pain every time he beat me. You never said anything to even attempt to stop him. You didn't think I noticed? I know you were outside my door every time. A PROPER mother would've stopped him. You let it go on. For YEARS," she pointed at the unconscious Jonathan. "HE didn't do anything but protect me from you and Father. Something you never would've done. You ALLOWED the beatings every day. And you were NEVER there for me." Lucy watched with a small amount of satisfaction knowing her mother started crying because of what she said. The officer closest to the door looked at Lucy with astonishment. As Lucy walked over to Jonathan and put her head on his cheek, she choked back a sob. Her dearest Jonathan shouldn't have had to deal with this. He didn't deserve it. Lucy stood as she wiped the few tears that had fallen. Looking at the officer who was close by, she spoke, venom dripping from her voice. "If you want to arrest someone, arrest my father. He has no right to be free. Jonathan doesn't need to be arrested when he is the one who saved me," she turned to her father who was just walking back in. With a sneer, she made sure he knew who he was to her. With a sort of quickness no one knew she possessed, she slammed her father against the wall. Her father grew even more angry as she did it and he grabbed her arm so tight, his knuckles turned white. All the while the cops watched and as soon as her father threw her back from him, they grabbed his wrists and handcuffed him. Her mother started crying as she sat and watched the whole ordeal. Lucy stood tall as she watched the cops take her father to another room. Pulling up her sleeve to see how bad she was going to bruise again, Lucy let out a low growl. Her arm was cut again because he reopened a wound he caused last time. She rolled her sleeve back down and then noticed the small pool of blood near Jonathan's side that was cut. She cursed as she rushed to his side, trying to stop the now-steady blood flow. She barked an order at the cop next to her to get a first aid kit. The cop ran and got the kit and came back quickly. Lucy got to work trying to clean the cut, careful to not open it more. Once she was satisfied with cleaning it, she bandaged it, making sure to not hurt him too much. Jonathan moaned in slight pain while unconscious as she was finishing up, causing her to stop and put her hand on his cheek. Once he stopped, she finished and put the rest of the medical supplies back in the first aid kit. The officers that took her father into another room came back and saw what Lucy was doing. The officer that brought Lucy in walked over and knelt down next to her, examining her work. Lucy looked at the officer, hoping he would be proud of what she did. She wasn't very experienced with medical care so she hoped she did well. The officer nodded toward the kit and she handed it over to him. She was afraid she forgot something but sighed with relief as he stood up to put the kit away. Her mother had left the room by then, leaving just Luka, Lucy, Jonathan, and a couple officers. Luka walked over to Lucy and hugged her tightly. He knew she loved Jonathan and was proud of his baby sister finally found someone who could treat her right. He knew Jonathan wouldn't hurt her like their father did and he hoped he could help Jonathan out of the mess that both of them were in. He wanted his sister happy and he knew she wouldn't be happy going back home. The officer came back into the room and spoke to Lucy. "How long has your father abused you before you left with Jonathan?" Lucy's eyes flashed a bit of red, showing she was clearly upset. So took a deep breath and spoke, choosing her words carefully. "About six years. Before the first time I ran away." The officer nodded and asked another question. "Lucy, I've known you since you were a toddler. You had my number, so why didn't you call me?" Lucy started tearing up because he was right. She knew she could have  talked to him but her fear took over every time. "Because I was afraid you wouldn't believe me. No one ever did when I told someone." Tears started streaking down her cheeks. "Officer Blakely, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want you to call CPS and my father beat me more." Blakely looked at Lucy with sadness in his eyes. He never knew that the girl who just slammed her father into a wall with enough force to kill would be so afraid to talk to him. Lucy was like a daughter to him and he reached his hand out and put it on her shoulder. "You know, we have to take Jonathan to the hospital to get his side checked. I noticed how bad it was. I also saw how quickly you went to try and stop the bleeding. Unfortunately, if he is bleeding that bad, it has to be checked out. Why not tell me what happened on the way to the hospital?" Lucy looked at Blakely with a sort of happiness swelling in her heart. "Can I please stay with him in the back seat? Would you allow me that? So if he woke up on the way there, he wouldn't be as afraid?" Blakely nodded and removed the cuffs from Jonathan's wrists. He looked at another officer, and they both carried Jonathan to the suburban cop car, Lucy following close behind. When everyone was in the car, Blakely opened the window that separated the front and the back seats. And Lucy began telling him what happened.
