LUCA’S POV
Anna walked out without looking back. It landed in my chest before the door even shut.
Mateo was up before the door finished swinging. “Meeting’s over.”
“I know.” I was already up, already going.
He stepped in front of me — not to stop me, just there, close enough that I had to look at him. “Luca.”
“I’m not going to cause a scene.”
He held my eyes. Something let go in his face — like he’d had a whole argument loaded and set it down for later. He stepped aside.
The corridor was empty. I hit the main doors and the morning came at me flat and white, and there she was — halfway to her car, keys already in her hand, walking like she had somewhere better to be.
