  I immediately realized how far I had gone and apologized. I picked up the doll. It was just childish curiosity that must have triggered Beam to take the doll out of my workshop.   "Hayley," said Beam as I turned to leave.   "What?" I asked, not wanting to turn back to her.   "I just don't get you at times that's all," Beam replied.   "Don't get me?" I muttered.
