Chapter Three: Final decision

1182 Words
Rosie stayed at Lucille’s place for the next two days to make her decision. She commutes from Lucille’s place to her workplace. When the two days were up, she trudged back fearfully to the mansion to give her answer. Anxiety and dread twisting up her insides. She made up her mind to accept the marriage. This is her fate and she has no choice. Putting up a bold front, she went to meet Heather but heard a distinct voice talking harshly and she knew who it was. Hesitating to open the door at first in order not to bear the brunt of her anger, she waited by the door listening. “Even though Evelyn has been poisoned, she still hesitates to say yes and sign. I have been too soft on her. Well, this ends now. If she refuses to get married to Mr. John then we will just have to force her.” Rosie was baffled by what she heard. “We will have to result to plan B. It’s a shame we have to if she says no.” With laughter in her voice, she continued. “She can’t escape her fate. We have already promised her to Mr. John. All she needs is a little push in the right direction.” “I wonder if she has second thoughts. She should go ahead and say yes.” Jeffrey said faintly. At that moment, Rosie was hit by a sudden realization and a sense of helplessness. The choice wasn’t hers to make in the first place. “We need to get that business deal. Thank goodness for Rosie which makes it easier. If she says no, we will begin plan B.” Unable to listen anymore, Rosie silently made her way back to her room. She cried all through her stay at Lucille’s place. This is the end. She’s not safe here. Even after hearing all the cruel words Heather said about her, she finalized that she would marry him as long as she’s safe and her mom gets the treatment. Waiting for when she would be called upon, she stared at the window lost in thoughts. After a while, she dressed up and applied a little makeup to hide the sadness in her eyes. She heard the sound of cars approaching the mansion. Soon she will be called to give her answer. Minutes later, Olivia calls for Rosie. “You are needed immediately and don’t waste time. Important guests are waiting.” “Yeah right. Important guests? More like her husband-to-be. She thought while rolling her eyes. Let’s get this over with. Taking deep breaths, she approached the dining room where the guests were. des. Heather introduced her to Mr. John while smiling warmly like she was doing her a favor. That witch she thought. Mr. John eyed Rosie’s body voraciously. Rosie has hazel eyes that shine and seem to change color under the sun. She has a curvaceous figure and her hair has curls in layers. Small full lips that are pink. As he was eyeing her, Rosie glanced around her. On the table was a marriage and business form. “What a joke. She’s being sold.” Mr John spoke up. “Rosie, if you marry me, you will have access to money and power. Whatever you ask will be yours. Only if you are a good girl.” The sly smile on his face was cringe. She shuddered at the thought. Jeffrey cleared his throat and spoke up. “So what’s your decision?” Rosie first looked at Mr. John now stuffing his face with food and chewing loudly in the silent room. Her memory of when she last saw him was hazy. But Almost the same. He does look red like he’s choking on something heavy. He breathes heavily and has a round belly that makes him look pregnant. His fingers and neck are stubby. Rosie concluded he looked like a pig and this is the man that will lay beside her in bed and make love to her? Nothing could have prepared her for the realization. A chill went down her spine. Apart from Mr.John, coupled with the stuff Rosie overheard from Heather, she wondered if agreeing to this proposal would turn into a lifetime of nightmares. “Please give me more time,” Rosie said as she looked down, unable to meet everyone's gazes. There was a sudden silence and stillness in the room. “Oh really?” Heather asked. She pushed the chair back and walked towards Rosie standing in front of her. SLAP! The slap threw Rosie back. She knew her cheeks would swell up from this. She couldn't hear anything as Jeffrey was talking to Mr. John like he was offering him consolation words and assurance. Mr. John himself looked irritated like he had been wronged, grumbling. His cheeks grew red with each passing second Whereas Heather hurled insults at her. Everything in a flash became chaos. “You took my hospitality for granted, you selfish ingrate. You will pack your stuff and leave my house at once.” Who do you think you are to turn down this offer? Well, good luck footing your mom’s bills.” Mr John stood up and left hastily while shouting as he kept threatening the Whitsons. What the hell is happening just from her decision? She’s a human being for goodness sake and not something to be traded for. Rosie left with unshed tears. The humiliation she has been put through is something she wants to forget. She will marry him. She just needs to prepare her mind. She can’t abandon her mom. Before Rosie left, she noticed that Jeffrey and Heather were a little restless when Mr. John left. She knows they must have done some kind of deal. Probably a big one that involves her. Turning on her heels, Rosie left the room. There’s no powerful figure to come to her rescue. This is her life and destiny. Next is to visit her mom. She hoped her condition would have improved even by a bit. Rosie undresses to her lingerie in front of John, who is still fully clothed. He sat at the edge of his huge bed feasting his eyes on her body. “Come here,” smiling he beckoned to her to come closer, which she did hesitantly as she dreaded him laying his hands on her body. John stood up and began undressing and stood before Rosie fully naked. Rosie stared in horror at his manhood looking shriveled and little. His stomach covered most of it that it could barely be seen. “Escape!” was Rosie’s first thought was the door. “I’m sorry but I can’t do this,” she said trembling. Thinking he understood, she turned to flee but he held her. His grip imprinted on her olive skin. “ you’re not going anywhere because you’re now mine.” Rosie screamed as she woke up. Her fervent eyes searched her surroundings. She sighed. It's just a dream as she realized. Soon to become her reality.
