Chapter Four: The Ceremony of Chains

1975 Words
The next three days passed in a slow, heavy blur for Lila. She was never left alone for long. Every morning, women came to her room with beautiful dresses, makeup, and jewelry. They were quiet and polite, but they did not answer her questions. They only did as they were told, helping her get ready for a wedding she never wanted. They brushed her hair, painted her face, and dressed her in soft, expensive fabrics. To anyone looking from the outside, it seemed like she was a lucky woman preparing for a rich marriage. But Lila knew the truth. Every beautiful piece of clothing, every shiny necklace, was just another chain tying her down. She tried to ask the women to help her, to let someone know where she was, or to pass a message to her friends. But every time she spoke about leaving or escaping, they looked down and stayed silent. She realized quickly that everyone who worked here was loyal to the Vance family. No one would help her. No one dared to go against them. She was completely alone. During these days, the four men came to see her often. They did not stay long, but their visits were enough to remind her exactly where she stood. Cole came the most. He loved to tease her, watching her get ready with a smirk on his face. He would walk around her, touching the fabric of her dress or the jewels around her neck, his eyes shining with dark excitement. “You look perfect,” he would say, his voice rough and low. “Like something made just for us. You have no idea how long we have waited for this day. Soon, you will be ours in every way possible.” Elias came too, usually bringing books or small gifts. He spoke softly, explaining little things about the wedding or the rules she would have to follow once she was officially part of the family. He acted kind, but Lila knew better. Every word he said was calculated. He was training her, teaching her how to be the wife they wanted her to be, not the wife she wanted to be. Gideon stood guard most of the time, silent and still like a statue. He rarely spoke, but his eyes never left her. He watched every move she made, every breath she took. He was the wall between her and the outside world, and he made sure she never forgot it. Damian visited last, always. He was the leader, the one who had started all of this. When he walked into the room, everyone else seemed to step back. He looked at her with eyes that held no doubt, no mercy, and endless desire. He did not tease her or try to trick her. He simply told her how things would be. “Today is the day everything changes,” he said on the morning of the wedding. He stood in front of her, looking at her dressed in white lace and silk. “You think this is a tragedy. You think you are losing everything. But I promise you, Lila… you are gaining a world. You will have protection, power, and wealth that most people can only dream of. You just have to accept that it comes with a price. And the price is your freedom.” Lila stood tall, even though her hands were shaking inside her long sleeves. “I don’t want your world,” she said, her voice clear and steady. “I want my old life. I want my freedom. You can dress me up and call me your wife, but you can never make me want this.” Damian smiled, but it was a cold, hard smile. He reached out and touched her face, his fingers strong and possessive. “We don’t need you to want it yet,” he answered. “We just need you to be ours. The rest will come later. You will learn to want it. You will learn to need us, just as much as we need you.” When it was time, they led her out of the room. The wedding was held in the grand hall downstairs. It had been decorated with hundreds of white flowers and bright lights. It looked beautiful, like a scene from a movie. But there were no guests, no family, and no friends. Only the four men, a judge who had been paid well to be there, and a few guards standing by the doors. It was a private ceremony, meant only to bind her to them, not to celebrate love. Lila walked down the aisle slowly. She did not have a father to give her away. Instead, she was led by Elias and Cole, one on each side. They held her arms gently, but their grip was firm. She looked ahead and saw Damian standing at the front, waiting for her. Beside him stood Gideon. They looked powerful, dangerous, and completely sure of themselves. As she walked closer, she felt their eyes burning into her. Four pairs of eyes, all fixed only on her. She realized then that this was not just a marriage between a husband and wife. This was a joining of her life with all four of them. The judge spoke words that sounded formal and legal, but to Lila, they sounded like a sentence. He talked about promises, loyalty, and being together forever. She barely heard him. Her mind was racing, looking for any way out, any chance to run. But the doors were locked. Guards stood everywhere. There was nowhere to go. Then came the vows. “Do you, Lila Carter, take Damian Vance to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the judge asked. The room went silent. Everyone looked at her. Damian watched her closely, his face calm, but his eyes intense. Cole leaned forward a little, waiting. Elias smiled that knowing smile of his. Gideon stood ready, like he expected her to try something. Lila opened her mouth. She wanted to scream no. She wanted to tell them all that this was wrong, that she did not agree, that she was being forced. But she looked at them—four of the most dangerous men in the country—and she knew that saying no would change nothing. It would only make things harder for her. It would not stop the wedding. It would only bring punishment. She was trapped, and saying the words was the only way to get through this moment. She swallowed hard, her throat dry. Her voice came out quiet but clear. “I do.” As soon as the words left her mouth, she saw the change in them. A dark kind of satisfaction spread across their faces. Damian’s shoulders relaxed, like he had just claimed the most valuable prize in the world. Cole let out a small, dark laugh of victory. Elias looked pleased, like a plan had worked perfectly. Even Gideon’s hard face softened slightly, a look of ownership taking over. Damian took her hand and slid a ring onto her finger. It was big, heavy, and made of gold with a large diamond in the center. It sparkled brightly, but it felt cold and heavy on her skin, just like a handcuff. “And do you understand,” the judge continued, looking between her and the four men, “that by joining this family, you are bound to all its members? That your loyalty belongs to the family, and you are under their protection and their care, now and always?” Lila looked at Damian, then at the others. She realized then that this was the part no one had fully explained. She was marrying Damian, yes. But she belonged to all of them. They shared everything... Their power, their home, their secrets… and now, they shared her. “I understand,” she said, because there was nothing else she could say. When the ceremony ended, the judge left quickly. It was done. The papers were signed. She was now legally Mrs. Vance. She was their wife, their property, and their obsession, all wrapped in one. Damian turned to her. He took both her hands in his and looked deep into her eyes. “It is done,” he said, his voice deep and full of meaning. “There is no going back now, Lila. You are part of us. You are the queen of this empire. And we will do anything, anything at all, to keep you here and keep you safe.” Cole stepped up behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders. He leaned down close to her ear, his voice thick with excitement. “You said the words, little wife. Now you really are ours. We have waited so long for this moment. You have no idea what we have planned for you.” Elias walked around to stand in front of her. He reached out and touched the ring on her finger, twisting it gently. “Beautiful,” he whispered. “A perfect fit. Just like you fit perfectly with us. You fought it, you hated it, but look at you now… exactly where you were always meant to be.” Gideon moved closer too, standing by her side. He did not speak, but he placed a hand on her back, guiding her, claiming her. His presence was strong and steady, telling her without words that he would never let her out of his sight again. Lila stood in the middle of them, surrounded by their bodies, their scent, and their power. She felt suffocated. She felt angry. But she also felt something else... Something she hated to admit. She felt the weight of their obsession. It was heavy, dark, and dangerous. But it was also powerful. They wanted her more than anything in the world. They would kill for her. They would die for her. And they would never, ever let her go. She looked up at Damian. “You got what you wanted,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. “You made me your wife. You put a ring on my finger. But remember this… a piece of paper does not change who I am. I am still the same girl you kidn*pped in the rain. I still hate what you did. And I will never stop fighting you.” Damian smiled, and this time, the smile reached his eyes. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, slow and possessive. “Fight all you want, Lila,” he said softly. “It only makes us love you more. It only makes our need for you grow stronger. You think this is the end? No… this is just the beginning. The wedding is over, but now the real life starts. And in this life, you are the center of everything. We are obsessed with you, body and soul. And now that you are officially ours… there is no limit to what we will do to keep you happy, safe, and right where you belong.” As they led her out of the hall and toward the main part of the house, Lila looked at the ring on her finger. It shone brightly, catching the light. She was married. She was trapped. And she was surrounded by four ruthless men who had turned taking her into a game, and loving her into an obsession that knew no bounds. She had no idea what would happen next, but she knew one thing for sure: her old life was dead, and her new life was far darker, more dangerous, and more intense than she ever could have imagined. And the scary part was, deep down, she was beginning to realize that she was not just their prisoner… she was becoming their whole world.
