Gabe clutched the stuffed doll in his hand, frozen solid to the spot as if a lightning bolt had just slammed into him. He did not snap out of his trance until a nanny’s voice called out from behind him. "Mr. Sterling! We found the baby! He’s in the nanny’s quarters!" Gabe spun around. The nanny was rushing straight toward him, a fair-skinned, chubby baby cradled tight in her arms. "Look, Mr. Sterling, the baby’s perfectly fine.
