Episode 9: The First Challenge

INT. TOWN SQUARE - DAY

The sun shines brightly over the peaceful town square, a place filled with laughter and the sound of merchants selling their goods. Suddenly, a LOUD CRASH shatters the tranquility. SHIN MYUONG’S MINIONS, dark figures clad in ominous armor, burst into the square, brandishing weapons and creating chaos. Townsfolk scream and scramble for safety.

CUT TO: SI MIN’S FACE

Si Min, with a heart full of courage, stands frozen for a moment, taking in the chaos.

SI MIN

(to herself, determined)

I can’t let them hurt anyone. I have to do something!

She scans the area, her gaze landing on her friends NAM YUN SO and NAM HYUNG, who are already standing back-to-back, ready to defend themselves.

NAM YUN SO

(voice raised amid the chaos)

Si Min! We need to protect the townsfolk!

NAM HYUNG

(gripping his staff)

Let’s show them what we’re made of!

Si Min nods, her heart racing with adrenaline. She closes her eyes, reaching deep within herself, feeling the connection to the earth around her.

SI MIN

(whispering)

Nature, lend me your strength...

As if responding to her call, vibrant GREEN VINES start to swirl around her, emanating a warm glow. The townsfolk watch in awe as the vines extend outward, wrapping around the nearest minions.

TOWNSPERSON #1

(astonished)

Look! She’s controlling the vines!

TOWNSPERSON #2

(eyes wide)

Is she a witch?

Si Min opens her eyes, now glowing with a brilliant light, and points at the nearest minion who struggles against the vines.

SI MIN

(with authority)

You will not harm my friends or my home!

The vines tighten around the minion, causing him to howl in frustration. NAM YUN SO and NAM HYUNG seize the moment, stepping forward.

NAM YUN SO

Now, Hyung!

Nam Hyung charges forward, swinging his staff with precision, knocking another minion off his feet.

NAM HYUNG

(grinning)

One down! Let’s keep going!

Si Min focuses on a larger group of attackers, raising her arms high. The vines start to coil and twist, forming a protective barrier around the townsfolk.

SI MIN

(shouting)

Stay behind me! I’ll protect you!

The vines respond to her command, shooting upwards like a wall of green energy, absorbing blows from the minions’ weapons. The townsfolk are amazed, rallying around her.

TOWNSPERSON #3

(shouting)

She’s amazing!

TOWNSPERSON #4

(picking up a pitchfork)

Let’s fight back!

Encouraged, a few brave townsfolk rush toward the nearest minions, swinging makeshift weapons. The tide begins to shift as Si Min’s confidence grows.

The LEADER OF THE MINIONS, a towering figure with a sinister grin, steps forward, eyeing Si Min with contempt.

LEADER OF THE MINIONS

(mockingly)

You think you can stop us with mere plants? Pathetic little girl!

With a swift motion, he sends a wave of DARK ENERGY toward Si Min. She gasps, raising her hands instinctively.

SI MIN

(desperate)

No!

Just as the dark energy reaches her, the vines glow brighter, absorbing the magic like a sponge. Si Min feels a surge of power flowing through her, revitalizing her spirit.

NAM YUN SO

(yelling)

Si Min, use that energy! You can do this!

Si Min focuses, channeling her energy into the vines. They pulse with life, growing thicker and more resilient. She directs them toward the Leader of the Minions.

SI MIN

(voice strong)

I won’t let you harm anyone!

The vines lash out, wrapping around the Leader’s arm. He tries to break free but finds himself ensnared.

LEADER OF THE MINIONS

(snarling)

You think you can bind me? You’ll regret this!

He struggles, sending out bursts of dark energy to try and free himself, but the vines hold fast. NAM YUN SO takes the opportunity to leap into action.

NAM YUN SO

(with fierce determination)

Let’s finish this!

She lunges toward the nearest minion, dodging a strike and expertly slicing through the air with her dagger. The minion falls, defeated.

NAM YUN SO

(panting)

One down! We need to keep moving!

Si Min, inspired by her friend, channels more energy into the vines, which stretch and grow, creating barriers that stop more minions in their tracks.

SI MIN

(encouragingly)

Together, we can do this!

The townsfolk begin to rally, inspired by Si Min’s strength and courage. They pick up whatever they can find—pitchforks, brooms, stones—and join the fight.

NAM HYUNG

(charging forward)

We need to show them we won’t back down!

With a swift movement, he swings his staff, knocking down another attacker. The Leader of the Minions, seeing his comrades falling, lets out an angry roar.

LEADER OF THE MINIONS

(fuming)

You’ll all pay for this insolence!

The dark energy crackles around him as he gathers his strength, his eyes narrowing with malicious intent.

SI MIN

(calling out)

Stay strong! We’re stronger together!

As Si Min speaks, the vines pulse with her energy, absorbing the dark magic the Leader is trying to unleash. The townsfolk, emboldened by her words, stand firm.

Suddenly, the Leader sends a wave of energy toward Si Min, who braces herself, preparing for impact.

NAM YUN SO

(panicking)

Si Min, look out!

But instead of fear, Si Min feels a surge of determination. She raises her arms high, and the vines expand outward, creating a protective barrier.

SI MIN

(fierce)

I won’t let you win!

The wave crashes against the barrier, illuminating the square in a dazzling display of light and darkness. The force of the impact shakes the ground beneath them.

The townsfolk gasp, their eyes wide with awe at Si Min’s bravery.

TOWNSPERSON #5

She’s incredible!

As the barrier holds, Si Min channels her power deeper, her eyes shining with determination. She releases a powerful wave of energy, sending the dark magic back toward the Leader.

SI MIN

(with fierce resolve)

This is for my town!

The vines lash out in a brilliant flash, wrapping around the Leader completely. He struggles but finds himself ensnared.

LEADER OF THE MINIONS

(in disbelief)

No! This can’t be happening!

Si Min looks at her friends, their determination reflected in her eyes.

NAM YUN SO

(cheering)

You can do it, Si Min! Finish him!

With a final surge, Si Min channels all her energy into the vines, which glow brightly, exploding with life. The Leader of the Minions is engulfed in the radiant glow.

SI MIN

(shouting)

You will not harm my friends or my home!

The explosion sends a shockwave through the square, knocking down the remaining minions and scattering them. The townsfolk cheer as the minions flee, defeated.

As the dust settles, Si Min drops to her knees, panting but beaming with pride.

NAM HYUNG

(lifting her up)

We did it!

NAM YUN SO

(smiling)

You were incredible, Si Min! I knew you had it in you!

The townsfolk gather around her, their faces filled with gratitude and admiration.

TOWNSPERSON #1

Thank you! You saved us!

TOWNSPERSON #2

You’re our hero!

Si Min glances at her friends, her heart swelling with joy and relief.

SI MIN

(breathless)

We did this together. It’s not just me. We all fought for our home.

Suddenly, a dark shadow looms over them. The townsfolk gasp, and Si Min’s expression shifts to concern. The LEADER OF THE MINIONS, though weakened, manages to rise, a dark aura surrounding him.

LEADER OF THE MINIONS

(grinning through gritted teeth)

You may have won this battle, but the war is far from over. I will return!

With a surge of dark energy, he vanishes, leaving the townsfolk shaken and uneasy.

NAM YUN SO

(frowning)

We have to prepare. He won’t give up easily.

NAM HYUNG

(nodding)

We need a plan. We can’t let our guard down.

Si Min stands tall, determination radiating from her.

SI MIN

(with conviction)

I won’t let him harm anyone again. We’ll train together and get stronger. Together, we can face whatever comes next.

The townsfolk nod, a newfound strength coursing through them. Si Min looks out at her friends, feeling the bond they’ve forged.

We need to train together. If they come back, we must be ready.

TOWNSPERSON #3

What if they come back with more than just those minions?

NAM HYUNG

(nodding)

Then we will need to strategize. We can’t just rely on Si Min’s powers alone.
