They faced the rushing river whose dark water was foaming like madness—the madness which signified all the agony and desperation they were experiencing. Treachery awaited them and in their heartbeats could hear a gallop of footsteps by the chasing Verrettis, Giorgio, Isabella, and Marko.
Marco looked at him and said, “we must swim across this river”. “It is the last option for running away from Verretti.”
In the raging waves, and getting ever more nervous was Isabella as she searched out for the best possible landing spot. But its so risky, Marco! we can get sunk.
Giorgio sounded grumpy, but determined. That cannot be an option. Let us go for it.
The riverbank search provided no sign of a bridge. They had no other option but to go into cold water with the flowing waters of course pulling their bodies further and further into it. There churning rapids swept around them by; while it was difficult for the feet to gain a footing upon slippery rock’s bottom.
Having their hands clutching each other, Isabella remained hanging on to Marco. The bond between them made them more resolute and strong. No wonder he was not far behind with his body bent toward the incessant flow of water.
The more they plowed on, the stronger was the river’s pressure, and it was getting higher up to their chests. Every move had been a fight – their bodies on the verge of drowning as their breaths shortage made them lose footings from time to time.
Adrenalized, their hearts beating faster than ever, they got as far as the point in the river that flowed the fastest and widest. On the other side of the river, the enforcers belonging to Verrettis appeared. They had fixed their eyes on the trio, showing signs of both determination and frustration on their faces.
It became harder still, and Isabella’s clutch of Marco’s hand got tougher. “Marco, we must continue our journey. There is no turning back, let’s go.”
Marco bowed, without taking his eyes off of the other side of the river. “Giorgio, keep pace. We’re about to reach there.”
They continued with their struggle amidst howling and powerful flow of water in the river that pulled their bodies with an unyielding grip. Every moment was a fight and the sounds of the Verrettis’ enforces resounded through the waters, threats coupled into the air.
However, with full determination and will power, they managed to cross the other side in their last breaths. They gasped for breaths on the dry lands with their skin and wet clothes freezing them as they moved over the ice cold waters.
However, Verrettis’ enforcers got frustrated because they couldn’t dare cross through the treacherous river, leaving them only to watch helplessly as the trio escaped their grasp.ByComparator Having not rested even for a minute, Marco, Isabella, and Giorgio moved straight ahead into the forests where they were still to continue searching for saftey and justice.
In hope that this evidence would reveal Verreti’s heinous acts and safeguard their own life, they went further into wilderness. It was no walk in the park, every step demanded courage and faith.
On the move in the forest Marco started laying out his plans. I can see a lawyer named Francesca is key to us. We shall expose the Verrettis and protect Isabella.
Isabella had a firm voice and unfailing eyes. We need to take these evidences to her. Otherwise, they will kill us all by those called Verrettis.
Giorgio brought his experience when it came to navigation across the area. His knowledge of the criminal world was helpful when they went through secret corridors and deserted places to avoid approaching dangers.
Their bodied became more tired every day. Day followed night as they traveled through. They inhabited the forest as an area of solitude and danger always on edge.
On that particular night, when they were taking a stop at the impromptu station, Marco could not help thinking about their perilous journey across the pathless lands. Isabella, this trip is very risky. But you are the one who can blow up the Verrette clan from their inside, and we must complete our endeavour.
Isabella's response was unwavering. Marco, we are in this together. I wanted to join your world and will support you in every situation we face, until the end. Together, we shall overcome everything.
The process of getting to Mount Everest tested their mettle, cohesion as well as faith in one another. The Verrettis were unyielding and therefore their danger had never been as great as at this point when they went deeper into the wilderness.
On that particular night, the three came across an empty and deserted hut somewhere in the jungle. A small cabin, very rustic, an escape from a barren environment. Their battered and broken bodies found shelter in its crumbling walls.
Then, as the cabin’s interior was illuminated by the light cast by a lantern that danced shadows on the wall, Marco’s voice reverberated with courage. We are going to spend sometime in here, though we shall not be around for too long. The Verretties are definitely going to get our trail, and they might end up catching up with us.”"; ainer was an artist, she often traveled to many different places.
Isabella and Giorio nodded to acknowledge that they were experiencing serious challenges. Verrettis were after them, which pursuance was unremitting.
The footsteps became audible and the cabin was lit dimly. They held each other tightly in the dark interior and waited with trembling hearts. They were being pursued by Verretti’s enforcers, the fate of the three was unclear.
The lantern flickered its light in the spooky shadows of the cabin’s walls, and they saw the wavering light of the lantern, projecting sinister shadows on the woodwork of the cabin told them that the Verretti’s henchmen were getting closer. The distant footsteps became louder and the tension in the cabin could be felt
With a low yet firm voice, Giorgio interrupted the silence. “They are coming! Let’s hurry!”
Marco nodded and had a strong look in his eyes. There is another door at the back of the cabin. It exits to a small path leading through the woods. We’ll use this one and try to sneak away.
Isabella’s heart beat increased fast, and she understood that time waited for no man. Swiftly packing their belongings; they walked towards the hidden exit path. It became a narrow, bushy track that penetrated even further into the woods.
The group travelled swiftly in the bush; the twigs scratching at their clothes and leaves hampering them.y The footfall of the Verretti’s enforces was getting nearer in sound as thunder.
Moving deeper through the forest, they made it to an overhanging ledge with a great fall below it. They saw the narrow trail stopped in mid-air and found themselves gazing at the fast flowing river beneath them. They returned back with the river again; the same one that had made them believe it would act as a barrier against the enemy behind them.
When Isabella spoke, her voice shook as she glanced at Marco. “Now where? We will never reach across that ditch.”
Marco looked around him as he thought of what to do. “Anyway we must cross over there. That’s all what we can do!”
Looking back at the forest, Giorgio’s eyes were full of haste. “We must hurry and cross the river fast enough before the enemies find us.”
A formidable challenge in the form of a rushing river had been presented and they were fully aware that their second attempt was not going to be any easier. The current pulled them down stream of the steep embankment as they entered the water.
Isabella held to Marco in a tight hold with their hands interlocked while moving into the cold water. They were fighting a losing battle with the river whose power never gave up and pulled at them in vain as their legs slipped away.
Each stride was an uphill fight against the fierce current. Their shouts, taunts and threats carried by the wind as they closed in on the Verrettis’ enforcers in the forest.
When they were at the half-way point in a river, the stream became fierce, and their power weakened. As the Verrettis’ enforces were near by, Isabell’ tightened their grips to Marco. “No way back now, Marco. Let’s move ahead”.
Marco nodded his eyes fixed towards the other side of the river with a determined grimace etched on his face. Giorgio keep up with me, we’re almost home now.
After one last burst of resoluteness, they made it across to their wet, spent bodies on the other side of the bank. Their lungs gasped as they made it onto dry land, wet shivers engulfed their skin-tight bodies.
Once again, the escaping trio managed evade the Verrettis’ bodyguards who were stranded on another island bank and hence watched helplessly. Unable to spare an instant for rest, they continued in darkness deeper into the forest, with a long journey ahead of them for justice and survival.
They knew in deep hearts that the cache of the evidences that were hidden could expose the Verrettis’ crimes and save their lives. It was not easy at all; each step was like a battle they needed to win.
In this state of high alertness, they had learned through bitter experience how dangerous the Verrettis could be, and that this time, it was worse than any other previous occasion.
This wraps up the chapter as the gang once more elude capture of the Vermittis’ henchmen, but their journey is littered with hardships, leaving them tired and at a distance from safety. It lives on and the dangers keep chasing them.
