Evelina paced the length of my study as I stood regarding her. I could feel how wound up she was through the mate bond.
“Calm down, Evelina,” I finally said in an exasperated sigh, crossing my arms.
“Calm down? They’ve got your entire pack surrounded and my dad is ready to fight to the death against you—” she broke off, her hands fisting at her sides as she stopped to stare at me.
“I didn’t accept his challenge,” I responded briskly, moving to stand in front of her. I cupped her face gently in my hands, hoping my touch would comfort her. Hoping the sparks that practically exploded between us now would help her frazzled nerves. “Mi vida….I would never harm your family.”
