**Evelina's POV**
“I’ve put magical wards up so that no one can portal in or out of here,” I informed Amaya as we sat in grass on the back lawn.
I couldn’t help but look over at the house that had become my home in the last week.
Gabe was busy with pack work these last few days and often rolled in long after I’d fallen asleep. He was supposed to go to Cordoba today to meet some allies and I was going to miss him. I knew he was working over time, trying to strategize on how to fight the witches. But he didn’t know I was doing some strategizing of my own. I often sat outside, meditating and practicing my magic with Amaya. We trained together while Gabe thought it was just ‘girl stuff.’
I had wanted to punch him in the face when he’d asked if we were doing each other’s nails or something.
