CHAPTER EIGHTEEN.

THIRD POV.

Rebecca was stunned and looked at him speechlessly, "Oh, you thought that I would not know?" He then smiled mysteriously at her.

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Rebecca was so displeased by the disrespect he was trying to use to bring her down.

"Nonsense? Of course, it's going to be nonsense to you when you're trying to hide your infidelity. It seems you keep forgetting that you're a married woman therefore a married woman should have her boundaries." He lectured her with impulse and Rebecca scoffed. She placed her hand on her forehead before replying,

"Before condemning me for something that I didn't do, have you tried looking at your life? Have you tried to look at what it is that you're doing? This is your first time coming home in weeks! I am your mate but then you don't seem to care about me. I can't feel any bond with you. Jonathan never gets the see you every day like a proper kid should. I was thinking about making him attend pre-school but you are always not around to discuss the issues with..."

"Does that serve as an excuse for your cheating?"

"What cheating are you talking about?! I am not cheating on you! I don't cheat but you cheat! You are the one cheating on me, you irresponsible goat."

But then he grabbed her by her hair without caring that the pain might be inflicted on her harder.

"How dare you open such a useless mouth of yours to say something like that to me? Who are you condemning my actions, huh? I can do whatever I want to do with my life but you can't. You have a son. Your freedom is limited. You are only meant to stay at home and take care of your child. Now listen very carefully to me, next time I speak and you raise your voice this high against me, I will shove you against the wall without thinking further about it..."

Ding dong.

That was the sound of the doorbell that interrupted both of them. He let go of her hair and cleared his throat to regain composure. Rebecca wiped the tears that were forming in her eyes.

"Go and get the door! What else are you waiting for?!" He half yelled at her. All Rebecca could do was glare at him underneath her eyelashes before walking to answer the door. When she opened it, Hale was standing right in front of her.

Seeing that it was him, she tried to hide her disheveled appearance which wasn't working by the way. Hale looked at how rough her hair was and how she was trying to hide her eyes from him which made him frown.

"Are you okay? What happened?" He asked softly

"Why...why are you here?" Rebecca tried her best not to sound shaky. Hale became worried and wanted to touch her shoulders but Rebecca stepped backwards quickly, leaving his hands hanging in the air.

"Hey man, she asked you a simple question, WHY ARE YOU HERE? But what you're trying to do is to harass her." Rebecca's husband, Nick, finally came out of his hiding. He was shirtless and was wearing a pair of gray pants too. Hale looked at him. The i***t was back again from wherever he went. Now he understood what could have happened - again!

Rebecca, not wanting any issues to go further, repeated her questions,

"Why are you here?"

"Why are you trying to let him leave quickly, darling? Is this how often he comes in the night when I am not around?" Nick smiled while his hand was around Rebecca's shoulders.

"Nick!!" Rebecca called out, her lips were trembling due to sadness. Just one more word from him, she would break down in tears and no, she didn't want it to be in front of Hale.

"The Alpha requests your presence tomorrow. Another strange body has been found." Hale explained his reasons for being there.

"Okay," Rebecca said and shut the door but Nick opened it again and looked at his wife with a smile,

"What's the rush for, sweetie? You can go ahead and continue your work while I have a little chit-chat with your secret admirer over here."

Rebecca's eyes met with Hale's worried ones before leaving with her son. Nick chuckled and stepped out, pushing Hale by the chest with his hand. When he finally stepped out, he closed the door behind him.

"Stay away from my wife, Hale." He warned coldly. Hale smirked,

"Why should I do that? You should be the one to stay away from her. You don't deserve her one bit."

"And who do you think you are to determine if I deserve her or not? I don't have much energy to talk, Hale. The Alpha sees you as a respectable being so imagine what he is going to have to start thinking about you when he realizes that you are chasing after a woman who is married and who has a child. Now, let me make this clear to you, the next time I see you near her other than professional reasons, you will regret it. She is mine. She bore my first child, irrespective of what you're doing, she loves me so much that wants to leave me and I am going to sleep with her tonight, ensuring that I impregnate her for the second time too. And there's nothing you're going to do about it. So be warned." Nick threatened and turned around to leave but Hale stopped him,

"Shouldn't I be the one to warn you? I think it will...you know be better if you take heed to my warnings, don't touch her again or else you will regret it. My words are few but the weight is enough to pull you down."

"You're overstepping the boundary, Hale. Watch it!"Nick pushed his hand away and entered his room while Hale's face became hard. He left the place for the mansion.

"I need to do something about him. More likely to report him. He keeps thinking he can do anything just because he is the Beta. If he isn't taught a lesson, he won't learn from his deeds." Nick thought as he stroked his beardless chin.

"Where is dinner you this ungrateful w***e?!" He shouted.

Aurora knocked on the door before she was allowed in. She met Jason at his desk going through something on his laptop. He was wearing his glasses which made him look so hot. Aurora loved it whenever he went into professor mode.

"Hey baby,y." Jason paused briefly but then continued. Aurora was unhappy with his response. However, it wasn't her feelings that mattered now but how to bring back their relationship. She went behind him and wrapped her arms around him.

"Baby, I am sorry." She whispered and kissed his neck.

"Baby, I am really sorry. I agree that I was at fault. I agree that I shouldn't have done or said what I said that night. I am sorry for being irresponsible and not active. I am sorry. I couldn't see the huge drift that Allison was trying to create between us. I won't do it again." She said sincerely and Jason sighed then turned his swivel chair around.

He pulled her by the waist and made her sit on his lap, "It's fine. All I just seek is your understanding and support, Aurora. No one here has made me feel at home before except you so if my home keeps misbehaving, I get to be worried. You should know that no matter what, You mean a lot to me. I won't cast you away. I gave you my word. I crossed my heart so many times so be calm no matter what. The higher advantage that you have over her is that you're going to be the one taking her place and she wouldn't last long here. She only seems to be bouncing around because she has a few support systems but with time, it's not going to be working anymore so calm down and trust in me, okay? Don't do anything that will give our relationship out and would ruin everything as well." Jason advised her and Aurora hugged him instantly.

"Thank you so much, Baby. I will do accordingly."

"That's why I love you so much." They both shared a kiss before Aurora stood up.

"I started working in the company with Allison. So I will be heading to work now."

"That's my girl."

"Bye. I will see you in the evening."

"Definitely."

As Aurora made her way down the stairs, she received a call from an unknown number.

"Hello, who is this?" She asked.

"Is this Miss Aurora"

She paused, "Yes."

"Good. Miss Aurora, my boss, Mr Jones would like the speak with you regarding business. We would appreciate it if you can make it. I will send the address to you now. I am sorry for requesting your presence in an impromptu manner."

"Okay, it's fine." She replied and the call ended. The location dropped and Aurora realized that it was a big company. Although she wasn't into business but she could tell that this was a mega business - she had seen it on TV before. She quickly made her way out and left.

Two maids came out of their hiding as they watched her leave,

"This is the second time I have seen her going to the Alpha's bedroom."

"Same here. Even Luna hasn't stepped foot inside there since I arrived here. I have been observing that a lot."

"Do you think that it's worth discovering? Should we delve deep?"

"With all pleasure, sister, with all pleasure."
