02. Her Best Friend

Delta is Clarias' personal maid, the beta girl is also a werewolf just like Clarias. Delta's father and mother were the main maids in the palace who were also trusted people for Clarias's parents. They are the same age and grew up in the same environment. Delta was allowed to be Clarias's friend as a child and was taught to be a personal maid when she grew up.

Because of that, Delta knew Clarias very well. She could easily read everything that was in the beautiful girl's head.

“Delta, answer my question honestly. Is the reason you let me go today because this will be my last escape agenda? After this I won't be able to run away again right?” asked Clarias firmly.

It was useless to hide something, in the end Clarias would find out right away.

"I'm sorry, Clarias. I failed to negotiate with your parents. You are also right, this trip will be your last escape agenda, because after we return, your match and marriage will soon be discussed in the palace.” Delta looked so apologetic, the girl didn't even mention the nickname Princess' for Clarias. That means they have entered the fashion as a friend regardless of caste.

That was also Clarias' request. She didn't want to continue talking formally with her own friends.

Clarias sighed as she leaned back against the carriage seat, then looked at Delta beside her. "Okay, you don't need to apologize. It's not your fault, Delta. Clarias smiled, and so did Delta.

Silence engulfed them for a few moments, while Clarias was busy admiring the beauty of the outside world from the window next to her, Delta felt uneasy. “Delta,” Clarias called without looking at her.

"Have you ever thought about getting married?"

Delta's crisp laugh caught Clarias' attention and turned her head. "Why are you laughing?"

"Hahaha, I don't know. I just think your question is funny,” Delta replied.

“I'm not kidding! Answer my question seriously!” Clarias asked annoyed.

Delta shrugged. "I don't even know who my mate is, so how can I get married?"

"Don't you have any thoughts of looking for your mate, Delta?"

Delta shook her head and Clarias immediately frowned in confusion. “I still have the responsibility to be by your side, Princess Clarias. I can't get married while I still have to serve you," she answered jokingly, but Clarias caught the answer in a different way.

Expression turned slightly sad. "Is it because of this job that you can't find your mate?"

"It is not like that!" Delta said quickly, she didn't want Clarias to misunderstand. “I never thought that the job of being your personal maid was such a burden. I actually enjoy it, I can also be your friend, moreover you are a good person. I just haven't thought about getting married or finding my mate, because I love my job."

"I don't know, Clarias. I just feel that I've never even been attracted to any guy, is it because I'm a beta? But it seems my second gender doesn't affect anything. Maybe because of my high sense of dedication to your family that made me never think about marriage," Delta continued.

Clarias nodded slightly. "I see what you mean, I know you very well so I know what kind of person you are," that answer made Delta smile.

Delta thought their conversation was over there, but it turned out that Clarias still had a few questions for her and Delta could do nothing but answer.

“If your job of taking care of me is done after I get married, will you get married too?” she asked again.

The beta girl shrugged. "I don't know, maybe I will still work in the palace to help my mother because I might not be able to follow you to your Alpha palace later. I don't even know if I can get married or not.”

"You should get married, Delta," Clarias answered quickly, her expression now full of seriousness. “I also want to see you happy with the person you love. You deserve that.”

Delta chuckled at that. “Your happiness comes first, Clarias. So you have to get married before me.”

"That's why I need your help."

Delta frowned in confusion at the sight of Clarias who was already smiling broadly in front of her, she was even more confused when the girl started gripping her hands tightly.

“Delta, you asked me earlier, am I really going to follow what my father and mother said this time? The answer is yes, I will follow their wishes. Getting married is one of the things I want in my life, I also want to meet my mate and build a happy family with him. I know that my parents must want the best for me, they must have reasons to marry me off in the near future.

“Of course I will follow their wishes, but as you said earlier, I can do whatever feels good for myself. I'm getting married, but with someone of my choice and to find the right one, you have to help me, Delta.”

The sweet smile that tugged at Clarias' lips somehow seemed frightening to Delta. It was only in an instant that Delta realized that she would definitely do things she had never thought of before, of course as Clarias wished.

And as a loyal personal maid, Delta certainly could not refuse.
