The moonlight shown brightly over the land. Land that Naomi had painstakingly cultivated with Jessica. With the many unwanted that she had brought together as a family. All the livestock rested undisturbed as she stood looking out the window. In her own world of thoughts of the past, she could only be grateful that she had come so far on her own. She smiled as she thought about how she had learned to control her powers and to conceal what she really was from the supernatural that occassionally did business with her.
Five and a half years had passed since that horrendous morning. She truly thought she would die being separated from a pack. Truly thought that she had nothing to live for. But then she realized that she was carrying a pup. As they say, she put on her big girl panties, and learned how to stand on her own. She removed all the money from her bank accounts located in the pack into a bank in the human world. She was able to get in touch with the pack lawyer to have her inheritance removed from their office. She had plans to grow that money now so that her child would be protected. Brian, the lawyer, was part of the pack. After Dean's rejection, her Aunt and Uncle disappearing, there was no way in hell she wanted them or the Alpha to be able to find out what moves she was making. She was no longer their concern, nor they hers. Knowing how that pack worked though, she would never give them the chance to steal from her or bankrupt her. She had heard the rumors of the Alpha doing it to a family before she was banished.
As for love, that was the last thing that she wanted or needed in her life. Trust in the mate bond had been destroyed by him. Alpha Dean. She would never put her trust into another man or wolf. Besides she had the loves of her life now. That pup that she realized she was carrying turned out to be pups. Naomi teared up as she thought about how hard it was to bring her boys into the world. She could only be grateful that she hadn't been alone. Jessica had been at her side since she declared her Beta at that clearing. When the first pain hit her, she had gritted her teeth and ignored the pain continuing through a meeting. A meeting that she hadn't wanted to take. A meeting with someone that she was not willing to allow within her pack grounds. She had finally come face to face with the Rogue King, Dylan Taylor. He had entered her borders univited with the offer of becoming chosen mates.
He had come to realize how much land the pack owned. Once he found that the Alpha was a female, a single female, he couldn't resist the opportunity. In his eyes all she wolves were meant to be seen and not heard. They were weak. He would have no problem worming his way into this females life and taking over everything. After laying eyes on her, he knew she was different. He couldn't put his finger on it but he knew he wanted to possess her and everything she had. His wolf, Ezekiel, told him if you could partner with her you will rule over wolf kind at her side. Dylan had sneered and told his wolf, not at her side but over her and all others. Your ego and greed will be our downfall, his wolf had told him before blocking him.
Naomi had taken one look at him and known who he was. She tilted her head and stared at him as though contemplating his offer. With a seriousness, Dylan had never expected from a she-wolf Naomi replied, "No."
"No," he questioned.
"No." She gritted her teeth against the pain that rippled through her stomach as she waited for him to make his next move. Little did he know, he would never be able to catch her off guard. He wasn't her mate, nor was she even the least bit attracted to him. There was nothing to distract her. The evil that rolled off of him called to Amina. She wanted to eradicate it. Send the evil back to hell where it belonged.
"You might want to rethink that."
"Why would I want to do that?" She grimaced as another contraction hit her. He noticed and mistook her pain as a sign of fear. He smirked at her.
"You are out numbered. I can take what I want and do away with you, that wolf,' he said looking at Jessica, 'and the spawn you carry." Naomi watched as he surveyed her land as he spoke. The nicely built homes; the children playing. She could see him practically salivating. Jessica stepped up beside her on the right at the threat. An unassuming wolf, Calisto, who happened to be her enforcer, stepped up on her left. "Oh," he said on a dark chuckle. "You she wolves don't scare me."
Tread lightly, Ezekiel broke through. Dylan blocked him immediately. There was no way he was going to bow down to any she wolf. They were beneath him and once he got rid of the spawn the alpha female carried, she would become his breeder. He felt gleeful inside and at the same time felt his wolves dread. Dylan looked over his shoulder at his Beta, Kai. "Look at this farce of a show of female power. This one's about to pop," he stated pointing at Naomi's stomach. "And by the smell of these two they can't be more than omegas. Runts."
"Are you through," Jessica asked with a bored expression. Kai began to laugh.
"I like the show of strength, but that's not going to save you." His canines descended in a show of dominance. Neither woman budged. Silence descended among the five. Dylan nodded towards Kai. Kai gave off a loug whistle and the women noticed that there was movement among the trees. They watched silently as more rogues started to walk into the opening. Dylan glanced behind him as he watched his men come to gather around thinking that he had already won. Naomi grabbed at her stomach and groaned. Again, Dylan made the mistake of thinking that she was scared and already defeated. There would be no need to even fight. He smiled. Jessica and Calisto both looked to Naomi and noticed that her pants were wet. Jessica inched closer, "Is that what I think it is?"
"Yes," she groaned. Calisto kept her eyes on the rogues that were attempting to surround them. Naomi took a deep breath and stared back at Dylan. "Well, as fun as this has been. This meeting is over. The answer is no. If you know what's good for you, you will walk away now."
"You are about to drop that baby. What can you possibly do to stop me from killing all three of you right now."
"I can do plenty, but I don't have time to entertain you now. I have a baby to give birth to." She gave him a smirk and turned to walk away. Naomi had already anticipated his move. She knew he would grab her thinking that he had the upper hand. Thinking that he was going to make her surrender. Dylan grabbed her hand lighting quick and yanked her over the border to him. Naomi turned and made eye contact with him. His heart stuttered as he saw her eyes. One silver, one red. He reach out for his wolf only to be denied. He watched in his mind's eye as his wolf bowed down to a woman. Naomi slowly started to release her aura, and his heart rate accelerated. He realized that he had apparently bit off more than he could chew.
Kai reach out for Jessica, not knowing what he was about to intercept. She made eye contact with him and gave him a full blown smile. She grabbed his hand unexpectedly in a bone crunching grip. Her eyes turned silvery and she began to chant. He could feel the burn run up through his fingers up his arm. The golden hue under his skin terrified him. It felt like fire running through his veins. He looked up at her and realized the truth of the situation. "Witch," he whispered.
"Witch," she confirmed. She took her other hand and placed it on his head. The fire within started at a slow burn in his head. It felt like his brain was being cooked and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Nothing he could do to protect himself.
