Winter sat in front of Alpha Titus’s desk. Unknown to the Alpha, she had already summoned who he thought was Naomi’s father. No one had known who her real father was. Nor her real mother. Through all the taunts, the name-calling, and attacks, she had kept quiet. Kept the fact that she was actually Naomi’s aunt and who Alpha thought was her father, was actually her uncle. Now, the daughter that she had raised was gone. Missing. Without a trace. Oh, she had a pretty good idea that Naomi had teleported outside of the boundary lines. But the question was why? And where had she gone? Why hadn’t she gotten in contact with her? She called her cell phone multiple times only to get voicemail. She tracked her cell phone only to find it was still inside the pack. There was no way she would have left without her phone.
“Now, Winter, where is your daughter?”
“That’s what I am here to find out, Alpha Titus.” He frowned at her.
“Go on.”
“She went out with your son on Friday night. She never made it home.” The Alpha leaned back in his chair, and she saw by the blank look on his face that he was mind linking. Probably mind linking that reprobate son of his. The office door opened and in walked Dean. He was looking downtrodden. Even Alpha Titus took another look at him.
“Son, are you alright?”
“I will be.”
“What happened to you?”
“Nothing I didn’t take care of.”
“What is that supposed to mean,” the Alpha demanded. He felt in his gut that his son had everything to do with Naomi’s disappearance.
“What did you call me for?” Before Alpha Titus could respond, Winter cut in.
“Where is my daughter?”
“What?”
“Where is my daughter,” she asked again in a cold voice.
“How would I know? I have not seen her sometime last week.”
“Liar,” she hissed.
“How dare you insult your future Alpha! You insignificant w***e,” he yelled. Titus rose so quickly from his chair that it slid in to the wall with a bang.
“Have you lost your mind,” he demanded. “Do you have any idea who you are talking to?” The smirk was instant.
“Yes. I. Do.” He looked at Winter. “I am talking to pure bred trash.” Titus’s mouth fell open. He could not believe the disrespect. Of course, he knew Dean did not know who Winter really was, let alone what she was capable of. He knew that Dean’s viewpoint was nothing but the result of his mother’s influence. She had always had the boy's ear. She had always had an insane jealousy towards Winter because of their friendship. Amelia had never known who Winter really was. If she had, she would have changed her tune. Even with the damage done, he thought he had raised the boy better than that. Winter’s eyes narrowed. Titus jumped in quickly, trying to save his son from devastation.
“Dean, you do not speak to your future mother-in-law that way.” Dean’s head whipped towards his father. He didn’t care about the warning look that was being thrown his way.
“I’m sorry Dad. You must be mistaken. I have already chosen my mate.”
“Excuse me,” Alpha Titus questioned? Winter turned around and stared at the young Alpha. She had to give it to him. The gumption he had. She smiled inside. To bad, that gumption had just cost him more than he realized.
“You heard me, Dad. I have a chosen mate.”
“Oh no, no, no. There is already an arrangement in place for your mating with Naomi.”
“Well, that just won’t do. First, Naomi is weak, and I have banished her from these lands. Second, I have already marked my chosen mate. So, there is not a damn thing you can do about it.” He smirked at Winter, thinking that he had crushed her dreams of status climbing. He then looked at his father. Alpha Titus’s face was mottled red. In all his life he had never seen his father so angry with him. Dean scoffed.
“What’s the problem, Dad? Feeling a little out of control there?” Dean laughed at Titus.
Winter stood. It was time to bring an end to this.
“I don’t care if you have a chosen mate. I want to know where Naomi is.”. Dean gave her a saccharine sweet smile. She pulled out her phone and hit Naomi’s contact. Ringing sounded in the room. Dean’s face blanched as his hand slowly covered his pocket. The door to the office opened and in walked the Leader of the Night Coven. Dean stared in awe. This man wielded power like oceans held water. There was no other with or warlock that could stand against him. Many Alphas had perished at his hands.
“Where is Naomi,” he questioned Winter. Confusion washed over Dean as he watched Gentry walk to Winter and glance at her phone. Winter pointed her finger at Dean as Naomi’s phone sounded again from his pocket.
“Why do you have my niece’s phone up,” Gentry demanded. Dean’s face paled. Neice? He stared in horror as Winter’s eyes began to swirl and change.
“Show me,” she whispered. Dean felt his mind being invaded but could do nothing to stop it.
“This young pup banished her, and she has cut off all connection.” The power rolled off Gentry in waves. “You will regret this young pup,” he said, smiling at Dean. “You have no idea what you have allowed to slip through your fingers.” Before Dean could respond, the door opened again. Two enforcers entered, followed by the Council. Dean smirked at the confusion on his father’s face. Gentry whispered to Winter, “Let us be away from here.” They clasped hands and disappeared as Dean told the enforcers, “Take him,” while pointing at Titus. He turned back to question Gentry only to find them gone.
“D****t,” he yelled as the door closed on his father’s violent departure. The secret door in the wall slid open. Dean simply stood there and waited for the new arrival to speak. A hand touched his shoulder.
“Is it done?”
“Yes.”
“Why the face Dean?”
“Did you know that Naomi is the niece of Gentry Waters?”
“What?” Her surprise was obvious. Dean slowly turned around and sneezed at her.
“So you mean to tell me that you didn’t do your research before you had me take a chosen mate, Mother?”
