Ashlynn stood next to Dean as they both noticed Naomi leaving the pack house. There was a bulge in her jacket in Ashlynn could not help but wonder what it was. Did Naomi have the audacity to steal from the pack house? Surely Alpha Titus didn't give her anything. As she took a step in her direction, Dean's voice hit her full of intimidation. "Don't."
"Don't what?"
"Leave her alone Ashlynn. She's not worth the time."
"Don't you want to know what your father wanted with her? Or what that bulge in her jacket is?" Dean rolled his eyes regretting the moment he ever mentioned that Titus had wanted to see Naomi. He should have known that Ashlynn would be jealous. After all, Titus couldn't even stand to look at her.
"If I want to know then I will ask but it doesn't concern you."
"I am the future Luna. Of course, it concerns me."
"Keyword, future. You are not Luna yet. When and if,' he stressed the word if, 'you become Luna you will be subject to my rules. Stay in your lane Ashlynn." he stared at Naomi's back as he anticipated the time, he would have with her the next night.
Later that night Naomi paced the floor. Winter sat and watched her. When she couldn't take it anymore, she finally said, you know you can't shift within the backgrounds right?
"Why not?"
"The power that you're going to release when your wolf and witch join is going to be massive. Everyone will feel it." In not so many words she was reminding Naomi that the Luna would know. Once it was out that she was powerful there would be no way that she would get out of the pack without a fight. Without people dying.
"Well we better get a move on then. Nova said it's time." Winter jumped up to grab Naomi's hand to teleport. Naomi let out the first scream as they disappeared. Landing on neutral ground Naomi's leg broke and she fell to the ground. She felt bile rise in the back of her throat as she stared horrified at the unnatural angle of it. Following that her shoulder popped out of the socket. Winter had no idea how to help her. She wasn't a wolf. There wasn't a spell that she felt safe using on her at this crucial time. She cringed as she saw how Naomi's bones broke and rearranged themselves.
"Help me," Naomi whispered as she reach a hand up towards the moon. Winter was in awe as a shaft of moonlight shown down on Naomi as though it were a spotlight. A voice carried on the wind. 'Don't fight it. Just let go. Nova will take care of you.'
"Moon goddess," Naomi cried out. Tears joined in the sweat that covered her face. The Moon Goddess hadn't left her to her fate. She hadn't forsaken her. 'I chose you for a reason. You are fair and just. You are love. You will be the most powerful being to walk the earth. You will change how all species live. You will unite them. Give over to Nova and receive everything that is meant for you.' Winter panicked when she saw Naomi breathe out and her eyes fluttered closed. She waited but her chest did not rise. "Naomi," she panted out. She felt as though her heart was going to beat out of her chest. She could not lose her. There was no way. She wouldn't be able to go on if Naomi died. She scrambled forward only to be met with the rapid cracking of bones. Naomi's body contorted and then she was gone.
Winter gasped out loud and held a hand out towards the wolf that stood before her. She was huge. Bigger than an alpha wolf. Pure white. So white she glowed luminescent. Nova was everything and more than the prophecy said she would be. Winter watched as the wolf climbed on all fours. Her eyes opened and they were a beautiful mixture of violet and silver. Lifting her head she howled. Winter was thrown backwards by the power that was released. Nova trotted over to Winter and stared at her. Winter got to her knees and bared her neck in submission. The power emanating from Nova wouldn't even allow her to move. Nova pulled her aura back and Winter fell to the forest floor. When she looked back up, Naomi stood before her.
She looked around and could see eyes peering through the forest trees. All colors of different species. Naomi stared out at them. She saw the red eyes of a rogue and inclined her head towards it. From where they were they could see it bow it's head. A sign of respect and submission. They both watched as the others followed it's lead and bowed. They had submitted to her. She was now their alpha. They stood, watched, and waited. "Soon," Naomi whispered on the breeze. She watched as they slowly backed up into the forest.
Winter turned back to Naomi. "Naomi," she started and trailed off. Her brows furrowed. Naomi had grown. She had filled out and had the curves and shape that she constantly wished for. Her hair was longer; eyes brighter. If she wasn't mistaken she had also gained about three to five inches in height. Gone was the childishness about her. The Naomi that still before her would take no crap.
