Back in my office, I spread the documents across my desk.
I grabbed a cup of coffee, another human delicacy, but it surprisingly keeps me awake. Then I opened the first file.

The picture stared back at me.
Handsome. Very very handsome. With dark smooth hair and brown yummy skin, with forest green eyes that held a strange calm yet distance to it.
Someone who looked like he had once known happiness… and lost it.
As I read further, my chest tightened.
He once had a loving family. A dad who carried him on his shoulders. But one day died in an accident
A caring mother who carried all the burden alone only to die from stomach cancer
Loss after loss after loss
By the time he was ten, he had lost his family.
He was taken to an orphanage were he met someone who brought back hope into his life.
But at fifteen, even his first love had been taken away. She died in a fire a year after being adopted.
I covered my mouth. “Oh Lord” I whispered.
He doesn’t even want to live. He is just… existing.. Dragging himself through days without purpose. Therapy hadn't helped at all
He must feel like all hope is gone. Tears blurred my vision and uneasiness overwhelmed me. I couldn't help but think
What if I fail him? What if I am too imperfect to save someone so broken?
I sighed and opened the second file

The photo made me pause.
She was beautiful—but not in a cold, unreachable way but in a warm, comforting way. Like sunshine after rain. Her smile was genuine. With her smooth brown hair and eyes that were a bright hazel color. And Her dimples were so so adorable.
Oh gosh why are my clients so gorgeous.
I read on.
She grew up surrounded by love. Supportive parents, Good friends, Dreams, Laughter
She was everything Caspian wasn’t anymore. Opposites Perfectly balance
Hopefully she'd be the light in his dark world. I thought
But they haven’t met. Yet. They were in the Same college but different departments thus different paths.
I was meant to bring them together.
I smiled. Honestly this is gonna be very tough
I leaned back slowly in my chair.
This mission didn't feel like the others. It felt like a personal mission.
Maybe because this was my first hard mission or because I empathized with Caspian. His story could break anyone's heart.
I felt it was my responsibility to help him find the light and to be happy again.
A soul hanging by a thread and I was responsible for it.
My determination rose.
“I won’t fail,” I whispered. No matter how imperfect I was and how difficult this mission seemed…
I will succeed.
