Chapter 2Koyah Abdel reached out to touch the glittering surface of the moonstone pendant with a thoughtful look in her eyes. “This is new. You’re not usually a jewelry person.”
Leah blushed. “Well. I used to have helix piercings and a few other things, but it’s a b***h to keep the channels open now. I’ve got my watch, though!”
“Mm.” The detective took a pull of her beer. “It’s nice—suits you. Was it from Amy?”
Leah scratched the back of her neck before draining the last of her pint. “No…ah…’s from a friend of ours, who was helping me with hunting up at the cabin.”
“Ahhh,” Koyah’s eyes glittered. “The mysterious Lady Elise mentioned? Who probably doesn’t actually exist?”
“What?!” Leah winced at the way her voice jumped an octave, and tried to rein herself back in. “She does too!”
