The elevator ride to Kade’s penthouse felt endless. Sienna watched the numbers climb—each floor pulling her deeper into a decision she couldn’t undo.
The doors opened directly into his home, and her breath caught.
Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped the space, the city glittering far below like something he owned. The interior was dark wood and leather—expensive, controlled, dangerous. Just like him.
Kade stood by the window, jacket gone, sleeves rolled, collar open. He turned as she stepped out, and the intensity in his gaze made her pulse jump.
“You came,” he said.
“You doubted me?”
“I hoped.” He approached slowly. “But hope isn’t certainty.”
Sienna set her bag down, holding onto control. “You said you’d tell me everything.”
“I will.” He stopped close, heat radiating between them. “But first—you need to understand. Once you know the truth, there’s no going back.”
“I’m not afraid.”
“You should be.” His hand cupped her face, the other pulling her closer. “I’m not a good man. I’ve hurt people. Destroyed lives. And I’d do it again to protect what’s mine.”
“I’m not yours.”
His eyes darkened. “Not yet.”
Then he kissed her.
It was intense, consuming—erasing distance, reason, restraint. She should have stopped it. He was a suspect. She was building a case.
But she didn’t.
She pulled him closer instead.
He backed her into the glass, the city cold behind her, his body all heat. His voice dropped. “Tell me to stop.”
She couldn’t.
“Don’t stop,” she whispered.
That was all it took.
Clothes disappeared, boundaries shattered, and what followed was raw and overwhelming—a collision of control and surrender neither of them resisted. He was dominant, relentless. She met him just as fiercely.
When it was over, they lay tangled together, breath slowing.
Then Kade spoke.
“There’s a council,” he said quietly. “The Alpha Hierarchy. Twelve of the most powerful men in the world. They control everything—governments, corporations.”
Sienna stilled. “And you’re one of them.”
“I was. Until I learned the truth.” His jaw tightened. “They’re experimenting—breeding stronger alphas. Anyone who gets in their way disappears.”
“That’s why the case against you is fake.”
“They’re setting me up. So when I’m gone, no one questions it.” His hand tightened on her. “But I’m fighting back. Gathering evidence.”
“Then let me help—”
“No.” He turned to her, sharp, urgent. “They know about you. Your immunity. They’ll use you—or kill you.”
“I can handle myself.”
“Can you?” he murmured.
His phone buzzed.
He checked it—and everything in him went cold.
“They’re here,” he said, already moving. “In the building.”
Her heart slammed. “What?”
“Get dressed. Now. There’s a safe room—”
The elevator dinged.
They froze.
The doors opened.
Three alphas stepped inside, their presence suffocating.
The one in front smiled, cold and deliberate.
“Hello, Kade,” he said. “We need to talk about your prosecutor.”
