I just want to break down and cry my eyes out at this point as I stare down at my blood-stained underwear. Just great. It just really had to be the time of the month, huh?
Why aren't things going my way?
It felt like life had been the biggest enemy for me since I crossed paths with the man living in this apartment.
I took a deep breath.
Okay, relax. This is normal, Amy. I convinced myself. Nothing’s wrong if I tell him that I need a tampon or something because I already have my period, right?
Except that it would seem like I’m asking him to do something for me when he’s my boss.
Fudge, I love my life.
I was startled when I heard a knock on the bathroom’s door and I quickly pulled my underwear back up even though it’s already uncomfortable wearing it.
I peaked my head out after slightly opening the door and saw Mr. Bennett held out a paper bag to me.
“You can change into these clothes instead,” He said. “There’s a breakfast served in the kitchen so if you’re hungry, you can eat first while waiting for me. I need to jump in the shower first so I can take you home.”
“Mmm…okay,” was the only thing I could utter.
I wanted so badly to tell him about my period but I couldn’t speak so I just closed the door again and thought of just using a bunch of paper tissues for the meantime. Right, what a great idea. I wanted to slap myself right now.
I checked what was inside the paper bag and realized these must be his clothes because they’re quite large for my size. I noticed a small bag inside the paper bag and when I pulled it out and opened it, it was a fresh pair of panties and a bag of tampons.
Blood rushed to my face in horror. How did he know?
Shoot! Did I leave a trail of blood on the bed?
I honestly don’t know if I still have the guts to face my boss once I meet him again in the office.
While contemplating my life, I hopped in the shower and begged for the stars to do a miracle and take me back from the time when I didn’t know a man named Liam Bennett before.
Once I got out of the shower, I just let my hair air dry because I thought asking for a hair blower was already too much. I was actually thinking of sneaking out while he was still taking a shower, but I felt a little conscience that my boss was kind enough to take care of me when I was drunk last night.
I went out of the room and searched for the kitchen. The apartment was not too big, but it’s too big if only one person lives in it. It looked clean and smelled clean. No one would say that a man is living in this department.
I finally made it to the kitchen and, true to his words, breakfast was served on the counter. I could see bacon, eggs, some waffles and pancakes but I decided to settle on just having a glass of orange juice because I’m not really hungry right now.
“You’re not going to eat anything?” His voice startled me as he entered the kitchen.
Of course, he looked straight out of the shower with his hair still wet. I usually see him in the office with his hair in a sleek style while he’s wearing his branded suits. He still looked expensive while wearing a pair of faded jeans and a white shirt.
Why does he have to look this attractive?
What an a**hole.
I wanted to roll my eyes so badly but I had to contain myself.
“I’m not really hungry, Mr. Bennett.” I said, putting down the glass of juice on the table. “Uhm, I think I can go home on my own. But can I at least borrow your phone so I can call my sister?”
He gave me a look of disapproval. I already know that look because that’s the same look he’s giving me whenever he’s unhappy about a report or something. “We agreed that I’ll take you home, Amelia.”
“I know, but you’ve already done so much for me, Mr. Bennett and I don’t want to continue being a burden. I’m really okay with going home on my own. I can handle myself.”
“That’s not what it seemed like last night, I reckon.” He countered. “You were drunk and almost couldn’t walk. You passed out after throwing up.”
I cringed. I definitely didn’t want to be reminded of that.
“Did you know I was in that room last night?” He asked.
My eyes widened at his query. “No, I told you Mr. Bennett, I got the room number wrong. I didn’t even know you were in the same place as me last night.”
He licked his lips and looked at me intently. “Do you normally do that then?”
“What?”
“Kiss random guys in places like that,” he replied.
I wanted to punch him in the face but I’m glad I was able to control myself. I had to remind myself that he’s still my boss even though we’re not in the office.
“Thank you for letting me stay the night, for these clothes and, uh, my girl stuff. But I’d like to go home by myself.” I was walking past him when I felt him grab my arm.
“That came out completely wrong. I’m sorry, Amelia.” He looked like he was trying to grab the right things to say, but I don’t really expect him to act kind when we both know he isn’t.
“I’m sorry if it seemed like I took advantage of you last night. That wasn’t my intention and I was drunk. I really don’t know what came to me to act like that. I wasn’t usually like that if that’s what you meant when you asked me earlier if I normally do that.” I sighed. “The answer is no, Mr. Bennett.”
“Then why?”
“Why what?”
“Why did you kiss me? You said you wanted to kiss me before you did.” His grip on my arm tightened. “What game are you playing, Amelia?”
“Nothing.” I quickly blurted out. “I was drunk. That’s it. I’d like to go home, Mr. Bennett. And please, whatever happened last night, let’s just completely forget that it ever happened. Thank you again for helping me out.”
I know he was about to say something but I really didn’t want to stay any longer. My emotions were already all over the place and if he kept on asking me things like that, I would lose my mind because I also didn’t know the answer.
Things are just getting so messed up.
But one thing is for sure, I would never, and I mean NEVER, drink alcohol again.
