Cameron and Kelly exchanged looks after hearing my revelation. Their eyes were wide with both of their mouths open. Cameron smirked knowingly, which cost him a glare from Kelly. They looked back at me at the same time while I sipped my iced coffee as calmly as possible, even though my heart was racing after I just revealed to them my unlovely encounter with our company’s new CEO.
“So I guess that explains why you were hesitant to accept the interview for the executive assistant post,” Cameron commented.
Kelly clapped her hand. “Oh, that’s right! You told me you sent a recommendation for Amy here to be interviewed for that post. How did it go? Did he tell you he remembered you?”
I sighed. “Oh, he definitely remembered me. That’s why my career is doomed now.”
It’s a Saturday night and I would usually hang out with these two to either have dinner at Kelly’s place or watch a movie. I’ve been third-wheeling them since college and they are both my best friends, so I really don’t mind. They usually want me to join them anyway, but then, of course, not all the time.
I still respect the time that they need to spend together alone. But right now, I really need my friends.
“Do you think he’ll get back at you for what you did?” Kelly asked, grabbing a handful of popcorn from the bowl.
“I didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, he’s the one who made a d**k move. I was just defending myself.” I reasoned firmly.
Cameron had his head nodding. “Well, you definitely got a point in that. But I guess you can move forward from here, Amy. Honestly, it all happened even before we knew that he was the new CEO of our company and it happened outside work, so I don’t think Liam is the type of person who would hold a grudge about something like that. Especially if he’s the one at fault in the first place.”
“Did he even apologize during the interview?” Kelly questioned.
Did he?
I can’t even recall if he did because my mind was in a blur the whole time, but I can remember him saying that it’s fate’s way to give him a chance to make up for what he did that night. But I doubt that he’s serious about it.
“Cameron’s right.” I started. “I should really just move on and forget about it. My job matters to me the most.”
Cameron leaned on the counter and popped a question I’ve never really asked myself. “Say, you got the post, what are you going to do?”
I shrugged. “That’s still a great opportunity. I’ll definitely handle it as professionally as possible.”
“We believe in you, Amy. We know you can do it.” Kelly walked around the counter and gave me a big hug.
Cameron joined and I just want to thank the heavens for giving me two best friends that I know would support me all the way.

When Monday came, I was nervous about checking my emails. I was kind of disappointed when I didn’t see a single email about the result of the interview. I thought about it the whole day yesterday and Cameron was definitely right.
I should be thankful if I ever got the post, but regardless if I did it or not, I still want to clear the air between our new CEO and me. I think in order for me to fully move on from what happened, I just want to confirm with him that we will remain as professionals even after what happened between the two of us in the club that night.
Cameron appeared in front of my work station. “I heard the result will be out on Thursday morning, Amy. We just need to wait for it, okay?”
I nodded. “I’m willing to wait, Mr. Messner. But can I ask you a little favor?”
“Sure, what’s it?”
“Can you see what you can do about setting me up for a meeting with Mr. Bennett?”
