“The reason I summoned you here.” The alpha began with a naughty, harsh tone. He received a glare from Vida and Zachary which made him change his statement.
“I mean why I called you here.” It still wasn’t nice enough, but they could all manage. He still maintained his harsh tone and stern face, which Justus found very funny. He got away with a stifled laugh. It earned a confused look from everyone, except an amused Zachary. Only he understood why Justus acted silly.
“I’m sorry Sire. It just.. It just came out.”
“I do not tolerate indecency,” Marcus thundered. It made things harder for Justus as he tried to suppress his laughter. He tried hard to keep himself from laughing because if he did another silly thing. He would have gotten exiled.
“I’m really sorry sir. An ant crawled into my pants.”
"You are pardoned..." Marcus was about to say more when Justus interrupted.
"Get to the point, Marcus."
"Yeah, where was I before I was rudely interrupted?"
“You were talking about why you called us. You haven’t really said much. You might be fast. I have other things to get back to.” Cato answered dully.
“Yeah thank you.” The alpha replied coolly.
“Marcus, you had better get to the point before you forget again.”
“Oh yes. There was a rogue attack when lady Vida and I were away.”
“Yes and we handled it,” Cato replied. He looked bored. Actually he was bored. He wanted the meeting to be over immediately. He knew that wasn’t happening. In fact, he knew this was not the reason the alpha called them. The main theme of the meeting was him. It always has to be him. He knew the meeting wouldn’t end well. Not like he cared.
“What is the account?” His face still remained hard and stern. No hint he was impressed.
“Five rogues were killed. One captured. Four of our pack members were injured. Not serious injuries. They must have healed by now.” Justus reported.
“Who killed the rogues?” Marcus asked further.
“Catt killed two, I killed two, and Romero killed one. Romero, Mateo and Andrea got injured.” Justus' report earned a smile and a nod of approval from the elders, except from the alpha.
“Romero, is he alright?”
“Romeo and his wolf are fine,” Cato answered nonchalantly. Marcus also nodded indifferently. He made himself comfortable on the sofa.
“So what do you guys plan on doing?” Zachary asked. He dropped his cigarette on the edge of the glass side table and concentrated on Cato and Justus.
“The third rogue is in the dungeon,” Justus replied.
“Why wasn't he killed?” Vida asked.
“Mom, we think there is a snitch in the Croton pack. How else did the rogues get into our territory despite our strong security system? I plan on getting to the bottom of this,” Cato explained.
“How do you plan on doing that? The rogues won’t talk easily. They would rather die.” Zachary said as he took out another cigarette and a lighter from his pocket.
“I know. Justus and I will think of something.”
“I understand… Zachary, don’t you smoke another cigarette.” Marcus said.
“Daje Amico.” Come on pal. Zachary laughed. “This isn’t going to hurt me.”
“Suit yourself…. The safety of this pack is my major concern… It should be yours too, Cato, as the next alpha.” He glared at Cato.
“I am aware.”
“Zachary, where were you when the pack was attacked?” The alpha questioned his beta.
“Don’t ask me that. I was somewhere important.” The beta shrugged.
Marcus was about to ask more when Vida cleared her throat. She was a little bit tense from the start of the meeting. She had always dreaded this moment.
“The annual gala is held next week. As you all know, Rome is going to be there and packs from other continents, including noble and prestigious men from around the world, will be present-”

Cato relaxed on his sofa and waited for his mom to continue.
“I have been planning this event ever since I became Luna….I think it is time to pass on the duty…. Cato, you need a Luna by your side….You need to find your mate.”
Cato smiled in his mind and made himself comfortable. The time has come for the real purpose of this meeting. He was fully ready.
