“Get down to the hall quickly.” Cato told Justus through mind link.
“Fine, I’ll be there in a sec.” Justus replied.
Cato knew his best friend and beta was going to take a while. Who knew what he was doing? f*****g his compagno? Mate, in Italian.
He snorted at the thought. That he doesn’t like f*****g? Of course he does, but having s*x and committing himself to one person? He was not sure he liked that idea. Finding his mate was the last thing on his mind. In fact, it wasn’t even there, even if it was the key to his alpha title.
“I’m excited about finding my compagno. Why do you think a mate bond is a s**t?” Catt, Cato’s wolf, told him. Actually, he always tells him that whenever Cato thinks of mate bonding as guff.
“You can be excited all you want, I don’t give a f**k, Catt.” Cato replied, annoyed his wolf was behaving all shitty about finding their mate.
“You have to.”
“Why?”
“It’s because my compagno is yours, we will both accept her.”
“I’m not doing that, besides we are two different personalities that just happen to share everything.”
“Whatever.” Catt made his way to the back of Cato’s head. He knew there was no point arguing with his hot-headed human. He was too aggressive. But not stupid to not want to have a mate.
Just then, the elevator door opened and Justus stepped out of it looking cool and relaxed as always.
“What have you been doing?” Cato growled.
“I’ve been f*****g coming here, chill fratello.” Justus replied coolly, not disturbed by Cato’s unnecessary anger and mood swings.
“Why did you take so long?”
“I didn’t know you were waiting for me.” Justus grunted a little happy, he wouldn’t be the only one to get shouted at.
“You are going to get us both in trouble,” Cato grumbled. Not that he cared about getting into trouble with his father. He just thought it was his duty to say it. They made their way down the hall.
“I didn’t ask you to wait for me. Besides, when did you start caring about impressing the alpha?” Justus answered, not liking that Cato blamed him for being late. “You know I got the message late. Right?”
“Why? Because you were busy f*****g my sis.” Cato laughed, “I’ll hit you with a mop one day, amico.”
“Why do all protective brothers do that?” Cato shrugged at the question. He didn’t know. It just felt uncomfortable sometimes having his beta as his sister’s mate.
Justus was a playboy, who didn’t give a s**t about relationships, like his best friend Cato, until he met Linda, his mate. His compagno. Cato’s sorella. Sister.
It was weird for him at first. She was his best friend’s sister and wasn’t quite sure he wanted to settle down with a compagno, but as time went by he couldn’t deny the legame del compagno. Mate bond. Any longer and ended up marking and claiming her, of course, promising Cato he would never have to cheat on her. Or do anything to hurt his sister. He wouldn’t even think about it unless he wanted a huffy alpha to chop his head off. The deal seemed pretty easy for now, as he hadn’t had any s****l desire for anyone other than his mate.
“I couldn’t go alone. Marcus said we should show up together”, Cato answered like he had no other choice than to wait for Justus, but it was the exact opposite. Cato would never go to any meeting without Justus except it is strictly for alphas. But he would never accept that.
“Who’s going to be there?” Justus asked, trying to prepare himself for the mysterious meeting.
“Zachary, Marcus, mom, you and I.”
“Any idea why this meeting is happening?” He asked further.
“I’m not sure. Maybe because of what happened earlier. ” Oh, how could he forget that?
Earlier, there was a rogue attack which came as a shock to the wolves in the Croton Pack. No one dared to attack the Croton Pack. Fortunately, they were able to handle it, as the wolves of the pack are skillful and highly trained warriors. They are always prepared for attack as they are the strongest pack in Italy and Europe.
Cato used a corridor that was contrary to the passage to the alpha’s office, which left Justus confused.
“Where is the meeting happening?” he inquired, perplexed.
“His chambers” Justus felt a little grateful. Cato waited for him, or he would have lost his way and would not have attended the meeting. Not that he doesn’t know where Alpha Marcus' chambers are, he just won’t remember casual and emergency meetings are held in the alpha’s chambers.
They got to the alpha’s chambers. Cato took a deep breath before he rang the doorbell. Cato looked relaxed and wasn’t tense, as Justus suddenly became. Bonding with Alpha Marcus wasn’t an easy task, him being the most powerful alpha in Italy. He trained his pack members to be fierce, and Cato and Justus, the next alpha and beta, to not only be fierce but also strict and cold like him, which Cato already is, but more ambitious than his father, making it very hard for them to bond, as their relationship isn’t really an ideal father and son relationship.
Justus is the cool and friendly one, always playful and doesn’t take things seriously except it is extremely important, but is highly intelligent and smart. Marcus' training and teachings, excluding the ones for strength and manpower, had no effect on him.
A sharp, vicious, cold voice with authority and pride told them to go in. It was Alpha Marcus after all.
