~Sandra~
Liam’s eyes narrowed as he glared at his stepbrother, but Ryan merely leaned against the wall, his hands casually shoved into his suit pockets, looking completely unbothered as he smiled at Liam.
“Is that so?” Liam muttered, his gaze shifting back and forth.
He clearly didn’t believe my excuse at all.
Liam’s eyes remained locked on Ryan and me, with his brow furrowed in deep suspicion.
My heart thundered against my ribs as I held my breath, praying my cover wouldn't blow.
But then Liam stepped closer, his jaw tight as he glared past me and directly at his stepbrother.
“Are you picking on my wife again, Ryan?” Liam demanded, his voice dropping into an angry sneer. “I know you’ve always been jealous of everything I have, but leave Sandra out of it. She’s too good to deal with your pathetic mind games.”
I blinked in surprise. Liam actually thought Ryan was bullying me?
Ryan let out a low, mocking laugh, taking a step forward until he towered over Liam.
“Jealous of you, Liam? Please. You overrate yourself. I was simply reminding Sandra how lucky she is to have such a… kind husband who is so nice to his female staff.”
Liam’s face flushed red with anger. He stepped up into Ryan’s space, his hands clenching into fists at his sides.
“Watch your mouth, Ryan. You’re in my house. I can throw you out on your ass right now.”
Ryan didn't back down an inch. His dark eyes glinted with dangerous amusement.
“Try it, brother. I’d love to see you attempt it.”
The tension in the hallway spiked so high it felt like lightning was about to strike. Both men squared their shoulders, ready to tear each other apart.
But from their size and muscle difference, it’s clear who would actually win if they fought… And that person was certainly not Liam.
But as much as I wanted to watch Liam get his ass whopped, I had to act the part of a loving wife.
“Stop it! Both of you!” I interjected quickly, stepping right between them and placing a hand on Liam’s chest. “Liam, please! We have a guest in the living room. Don't start a fight in our home.”
Liam took a deep breath, smoothing down his suit jacket as he glared at Ryan one last time.
“Fine. Let’s go back.”
When we returned to the grand living room, Priya was sitting casually on the leather sofa, holding a glass of water. The moment Liam walked back in, Priya’s face lit up with a sweet, seductive smile.
“Liam, darling!” Priya purred, patting the cushion next to her. “You took so long! I was starting to think you forgot all about me.”
I felt a surge of nausea at the woman's brazen behavior in my home.
Before Liam could answer, I took a step forward, my eyes ice-cold.
“Miss Sharma,” I said, my voice dropping into a sharp, elegant tone that cut through the room. “If your attention span is so short that five minutes feels like an eternity, perhaps the corporate world isn't for you. I can get you a coloring book from the pantry if you need help staying occupied while the adults speak.”
Priya’s sweet smile instantly vanished, her jaw dropping in utter shock.
Beside me, Ryan took a slow sip of his water, a dark, satisfied smirk spreading across his face. Liam stood frozen, looking at me as if I had suddenly sprouted wings. He had never heard his quiet, submissive wife speak to anyone with such lethal bite.
Driven by his lifelong need to prove his superiority over Ryan, Liam quickly recovered. He reached out, wrapped a possessive arm around my waist, and pulled me tightly against his side.
“See, Ryan?” Liam boasted, looking at his stepbrother with an arrogant grin. “Sandra isn't just a beautiful face. She’s sharp, classy, and fiercely protective of our marriage. A true asset to the family name. Something you wouldn't know anything about.”
I had to force my jaw not to clench.
Being held by him while he used me as a trophy to flaunt in front of Ryan was sickening.
Priya’s eyes flashed with jealousy as she watched Liam praise me. Her gaze shifted over to Ryan, eyeing his massive frame, broad shoulders, and dangerous charm.
Priya uncrossed her legs slowly, leaning forward toward Ryan with a sultry smile.
“Well, Ryan… I’ve heard so much about you. They call you the black sheep of the family, but honestly? I’ve always had a soft spot for dangerous, self-made men. Maybe you can show me around the city sometime.”
Liam’s arrogant smile instantly vanished.
And his eyes flared with sudden, possessive anger as he watched his mistress flirt directly with his stepbrother right in front of him.
“Priya! That’s enough,” Liam snapped, his voice sharp and agitated. “Keep it professional.”
I watched the interaction with utter disgust.
My husband couldn't even hide his jealousy over his mistress in front of his wife.
The shameless double standard was f*****g unbelievable.
