~Sandra~ Liam cleared his throat, visibly eager to get Priya away from Ryan. “Priya, we need to review those quarterly acquisition files right now,” Liam said stiffly, grabbing the leather folder from the table. “In my private office. Now.” “Of course, Liam,” Priya said smoothly, standing up and casting one last lingering glance at Ryan before following Liam down the hallway. I watched them walk away, my chest tightening with a mix of dread and burning anger. I knew exactly what they were going to do in that office. And I was not about to just sit and let it happen. But just I took a step to follow them, a heavy hand gently caught my wrist, and I turned to see Ryan standing behind me, his dark eyes serious. “Don't go over there, Sandra,” Ryan warned softly, his voice full of quiet caution. “Watching them will only bring you pain. You don't need to see it.” I looked at Ryan, forcing my expression to look submissive and agreeable. “You’re right,” I lied softly, looking down at the floor. “I’m just... really shaken up. Could you please fetch two glasses of cold water from the high cabinet in the kitchen for us, Ryan? My hands are trembling too much to reach them.” Ryan searched my face for a moment, hesitating. Finally, he nodded. “Stay right here.” The second Ryan turned his back and walked into the kitchen, my timid act vanished. I turned on my heels and crept silently down the dark hallway leading to Liam’s private study. I stood outside the heavy wooden door. It was closed shut, but a faint line of light spilled onto the polished floor from beneath it. My hands shook as I lowered myself down to my knees. My pulse thundered in my ears as I leaned close and peeped directly through the keyhole. My breath caught in my throat. Inside the dimly lit office, Liam had Priya pinned against the front of his mahogany desk. Priya’s arms were wrapped tightly around his neck, her trench coat thrown onto the chair. Liam was kissing her with a wild, desperate hunger, his hands gripping her thighs as she let out soft, needy moans. “Sandra’s a dead fish in bed... Can’t even make her c*m anyway.” Liam’s cruel words from our anniversary night echoed in my head, synchronized with the horrific sight in front of me. Hearing it over the phone had been agonizing, but seeing my husband kiss another woman with such passion shattered my heart into a million bloody pieces. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as my chest heaved in silent, suffocating pain. I felt like I was about to pass out. But then suddenly, a large, warm hand reached down from behind and gently covered my eyes, blocking out the painful sight. “I told you not to look,” Ryan’s deep voice whispered right against my ear. Before I could make a sound, Ryan wrapped a strong arm around my waist, lifted me off my knees, and pulled me silently away from the door. He carried me down the hall into the adjacent guest bedroom, slipping inside and shutting the heavy door quietly behind us. The moment the door clicked shut, I broke down completely. I buried my face in Ryan’s broad chest, my hands clutching his suit jacket as violent, gut-wrenching sobs tore from my throat. I cried for the years I had wasted being a loyal, obedient wife. I cried for the humiliation, the loneliness, and the bitter betrayal. And through it all, Ryan didn't say a word. He simply held me tightly in his arms, his chin resting on top of my head, stroking my dark hair in steady, grounding movements. As my tears soaked into his shirt, something fundamental inside me shifted. The agonizing grief and shame began to burn away, replaced by a dark, scalding, lethal rage. Why should I be breaking down over a dumb ass man who repeatedly hurt me over and over again, so why should I waste any more tears on him? I pulled back from Ryan’s chest, before wiping the tears from my red-stained cheeks with the back of my hands. My eyes were now blazing with a fierce, terrifying light. “I gave him everything,” I whispered, my voice trembling with raw power. “I gave him my youth, my trust, my devotion. I stayed at home, cooked his meals, and kept his house while he treated me like a worthless ghost. I don't just want a quiet divorce anymore, Ryan. I don't just want to take a little settlement money and walk away quietly.” Ryan looked down at me, his dark eyes intense. “What do you want, Sandra?” “I want to destroy him,” I declared, my voice cold and resolute. “I want to take back everything he stole from me. I want to strip him of his money, his power, his pride, and leave him with nothing! That fucker deserves nothing after what he did and is still doing to me.” I snarled with a ferocity that I never even knew I could possess. Ryan stared at my flushed face, with a sudden look of profound, dark devotion filling his expression. “Then I will give you what you want Sandra. Just say the word and we will destroy him,” Ryan said quietly, his voice laced with absolute conviction. “I will give you every piece of evidence, every lawyer, and every dollar you need. I am yours in this, Sandra.” The sheer weight and intensity in Ryan’s voice caught me completely off guard. Before I could process his words, Ryan leaned down and captured my mouth in a deep, passionate kiss. Overwhelmed by the rushing storm of anger, relief, and undeniable attraction, I yielded. I wrapped my arms around his neck, melting into his kiss as a wild heat surged through my veins. The kiss grew deeper, hotter, and more urgent. Ryan’s hand slid down my back, pulling me flush against his hard frame. Suddenly, a cold shock of reality slammed into my mind. Wait.. What am I doing?! I snapped back to my senses, placing both hands against Ryan’s chest and pushing him back with all my strength, breaking the kiss. I stumbled backward, gasping for air, my chest heaving as I stared at him in panic. “No... wait!” I managed, my voice shaking. “Ryan, stop! We can't do this!” Ryan stood his ground, his breathing slightly heavy, his dark eyes searching mine. “Why not?” “Because our agreement was strictly for one night!” I said firmly, pointing a shaking finger at him. “That was the deal! One night in exchange for the evidence against Liam! I am trying to free myself from an unfaithful husband, not become a serial cheater myself! That is not who I am!” Ryan stared at me for a long, heavy moment. Then, the warm, intense emotion completely drained from his face. His protective mask dropped, and was suddenly replaced by a cold, sharp, calculating stillness that made my stomach twist. “One night isn't enough,” Ryan said, taking a slow, menacing step toward me. “I don't want one night, Sandra. I want us to continue.” I backed away until my shoulders hit the wall. “What?! No! I said no! I won't do it!” Ryan let out a cold, sharp smile that chilled me to the bone. “Then let me make your choices very clear, Sandra,” Ryan said, his voice dropping into a dangerous, ruthless whisper. “You need my resources, my network, and my evidence if you ever want to win against Liam and get a single dime out of this divorce. Without me, you have nothing.” My breath caught in my throat. “Ryan, please—” “If you walk away from me now,” Ryan interrupted coldly, leaning close until his lips were inches from my ear, “I will walk straight into Liam’s office right now and tell him everything.” My eyes widened in horror. “What?” “I will tell him about our night together,” Ryan whispered ruthlessly. “I will tell him about your secret plans to divorce him. He will lock down every bank account, hire a team of ruthless lawyers, kick you onto the street with nothing, and ruin your reputation before you can even file a paper. You will be broke, homeless, and utterly destroyed.” I stared at him in complete, agonizing shock, my entire body freezing as disbelief washed over me. The man who had just held me while I cried, the man who had promised to help me take my revenge, had just backed me into an inescapable corner. I was trapped.
