14 Russell Foley set up a watch system where one of them would be awake and on lookout through the night. He offered Sarah the first watch, they would do two hours each, and then each go around again. Francis was not given a shift. Foley wanted one of his own people on watch at all times, and he was not sure Francis thoroughly understood the concept of keeping vigil while the others rested and at least tried to sleep. They each had a handful of almonds, some dried apricots, and a muesli bar, for their evening meal. Sam unwrapped his muesli bar, and looked at it with no small amount of suspicion, and a great deal of disdain, before daring to take a tentative bite, which turned out to be more of a tiny nibble than a bite.
