Chapter 2.

1004 Words
2 weeks passed and the trauma still lived with Joanne, she hadn’t said a word about the incident to anyone. “Peach, time for dinner. You didn’t come for lunch or breakfast are you fine?” Mr. Perez yelled from downstairs. “I had pizza Dad, I'm fine. I have work” she replied in the same voice. “Okay, you coming to the restaurant today?” He asked “Yeah yeah Dad I’ll be there, go along without me” she replied. “Okay, love you peach,” he said as he headed out the door without getting a response. “ Hold on…. I could get information about him from the internet, I remember the name he was called, Anthonio” she thought out loud as she opened her laptop and began punching her keyboard so hard. “There he is” she murmured with a little sigh of relief. “Top billionaire, mafia king, sexy bachelor…” I knew he was mafia. What if they come for me, i never knew these people to be forgiving” she said as a single tear traced a path down her cheek. “Ohhhh shoot” she gasped as she pushed her laptop further away from her. She had mistakenly liked a picture of him and it was from 2016. “Ohhh God, now it looks like I am stalking him. But he looks cute” she chuckled with her hands across her mouth as realization hit her hard. “Did I just find a murderer cute?” She asked herself as she looked around. “I need to leave this room, I’m becoming crazy,” she said as she stood up and put on a pair of joggers and a round neck top threw them on and took her cross bag, and headed to the restaurant. Anthonio was in his dining room having lunch when Marcus realized he wasn’t paying attention to the information being given to him. “Sir? Are you here?” Marcus said bending a bit to get a clear view of his face. He cleared his throat to get Anthonio’s attention. “Um.. what did you say?” Anthonio said with a grin. Marcus knew that look and simply passed his information and let his boss enjoy his meal. “She looked so scared and naive not beautiful” he murmured in the empty dining room. It was the best time of the year in Joannne’s neighborhood, it was the popular celebration that happens every October. It was also everyone’s favorite. The city lights were on and wrapped with lots of flowers and designs. The drummers were on every corner of the street, the smiles and laughter filled the whole street and no one was bothered. This day also brought lots of customers to their restaurant as they were known to make a special rice and curry sauce. Mr Perez made it, it was his wife’s recipe. While Joanne entertained the guests with her pleasant voice and the tune of the piano she played. This was the first celebration since her mother died, so they decided to dress as she always wanted, “simple yet classy”. Joanne was wearing a mini black silk dress with a fur coat around her shoulders while Mr Perez handled the kitchen with other staff putting on a black suit and bow tie. “She sounds so good” A young man screamed at the top of his voice as Joanne turned in the direction and gave a pleasant smile. During her prideful smile, she couldn’t help but notice the cars parked outside. Immediately it occurred to her that the mafia boss was back. “Damn it,” she said as she sprang out of the restaurant. “Joanne?” Her father called out after her but she left too quickly. “Now who’s going to entertain us, where is she going?” An elderly woman questioned loudly and sadly. “She’ll be back soon, in the meantime extra sauce for everyone!” He yelled excitedly as the customers yelled happily in unison Anthonio had sent his boys to get another defaulter and was impatiently waiting for a response from his team. Meanwhile, Joanne had figured out the street they were heading towards and decided to wait for them there. She stood by one of the stalls which unknown to her was of Anthonio’s standby. He noticed the way she looked around and at the other guys and tried to hide herself from them. “Ma’am, is there something you’d like to get? These are ancient beads” the stall owner said trying to confirm his suspicion and he was right she wasn’t paying attention at all to what she was touching. “Excuse me, ma’am,” he said touching her hands which caused her to shake in a fearful manner. “Umm.. can I see the bracelet over there? The one behind, thank you” she pointed as she still looked towards the men who were just standing now. It looked like they were receiving information through a mic. “Oh God, they are walking towards me,” she said as she turned away quickly. “Ma’am here’s the bracelet, it’s ancient and it's known for attracting soulmates,” he said with a smile on his face as he put the bracelet on her hand. “Okay, how much” she said as she put her hands in her bag to reach for her purse but the stall owner stopped her and said she could pay off to the boss. “What? What boss?” She said sounding confused. Before she could utter another word she noticed hands over her mouth. The last thing she heard was worse “Sir we have her now” “Is this about 2months ago?” “I didn’t even say goodbye to my father” “I thought they let it go” These were the thoughts in her head before she finally blacked out.
