I sat beside Keanu at a table tucked into a private room, my tablet balanced on my lap as I took notes. Across from us sat Senator Richardson and his chief of staff, both men in their fifties.
We were at a members-only club restaurant. Everything was exclusive, including the people who were allowed here. It was the kind of place someone like me could never set foot in until they were with someone as powerful as Keanu Martell.
Keanu had first played golf with the men— and of course he was good at it, like everything else—before we'd finally come to the restaurant to talk business.
"The permits are already in motion," Senator Richardson was saying. "Once Martell Corporation selects the primary contractor, we can fast-track the environmental assessments and zoning approvals."
