Chapter 39

932 Words

~~ETHEL~~ Twenty minutes later, after brushing my teeth and washing my face, I was running around my apartment trying to right every little imperfection. Keanu had never been in my apartment. Outside yes, but never inside. And I couldn't help but wonder whether he was going to find something wrong with it. "Geez, Ethel!" Maya threw up her hands as she sank back into the couch. "Just relax. There isn't a speck of dust anywhere—and why are you adjusting the coffee table?" "You've never been to his apartment. It's a literal palace." I said as I moved the coffee table until I was satisfied with its alignment. "So what?" Maya rolled her eyes. "Do you think when Keanu is at your door, he's expecting a palace inside?" "Why, thanks Maya," I flashed her my sweetest smile. "Very encouraging."
