When we saw Emma and Maddie arrive at the safe house with Jenny, we couldn’t be happier. We had spent the night thinking that we would never see the girls again. Thinking about that made our hearts break.
Night came and all the Queen’s Guard gathered again. We made a bonfire like in the old days.
Over the years, we had to be extremely careful with our shifts, as we wanted to avoid our whereabouts being discovered.
I look around and everyone tells stories of when we did this same thing in the royal pack.
Maddie smiles happily at everyone in absolute wonder. While it’s true that we raised Emma well, I think we could have done a better job of not removing her so much from our world.
The problem is that we never believed that the past would quickly come back to our faces.
