Rowan POV
I took her immediately to the bar where Billy himself was working, pulling a beer.
“Billy, my man,” I said.
He looked up and rolled his eyes.
“I should have known the riffraff had come in. The air changed.”
“You break my heart.”
Billy snorted.
“Please, as if you have a heart.”
His gaze went to my girl.
“And who is this?”
“Aria, I’d like you to meet the ugliest bar owner in the world, Billy. Billy, I’d like you to meet the prettiest girl in the world.”
“Prettiest for sure. What are you doing with him?”
Her cheeks went a delightful shade of red and her teeth bit into her bottom lip. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders, pulling her close.
“We’re here to enjoy some good soda, fine food, and awesome music. Who is playing tonight?”
“My band f*****g canceled on me. Pissed me off. I’m afraid it’s just a good old standard DJ tonight.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that, my man. The music is rocking.”
I nodded my head to the beat of the music.
“Here you guys are. Try to stay out of all kinds of trouble.”
“What have I told you? I don’t go looking for trouble.”
“But it sure as f**k finds you.”
Billy didn’t linger as his customers wanted to be served.
“You know the standard rules apply?” I asked, looking at Aria.
“About?”
“Partying. Don’t go talking to strange men. Don’t accept your drink from anyone but me. You know the standard fanfare for these things.”
She laughed.
“Oh, please, I can totally handle this.”
She took a sip of her drink.
“Or does Billy count as another guy?”
“Billy is a fine guy. Don’t worry about him.”
She chuckled.
“This place is amazing. It reminds me of somewhere similar Drew took me.”
“Yeah?”
She nodded.
“It had a family vibe. I can’t remember what the name was, but it was so amazing. They had a little play area for the kids to go and you could hang out and dance and, you know, party. It was a lot of fun stuff.”
She kept on bopping her head to the beat of the music, and I couldn’t help but join her.
We finished our sodas, and then I took hold of her hand, leading her onto the dance floor. The number was a fast-paced one, and I spun her around a couple of times until she fell against me.
Grabbing her hips, I showed her exactly what I wanted—how I wanted her hips to sway to capture me, to lure me in and play this dance we’d been doing for a long time. Pressing my lips to her neck, I placed a hand on her stomach, rubbing my d**k against the curve of her ass as I did.
We rocked the song until the last beat, where I spun her close. The tempo changed, and I didn’t need to let her out of my arms.
Aria put her arms around my neck, holding on to me, grinding her sweet p***y against my leg as we danced.
“You’re so pretty,” I said.
She laughed.
“You’re not too bad yourself.”
“You’re one hell of a dancer.”
The beat increased, and we parted ways, holding hands as we moved our feet, copying each other’s moves.
The music continued to change, and we must have danced for a good two hours straight before we escaped to the bar to get two sodas. I was so f*****g thirsty. I finished mine in a few gulps.
“Wow,” Aria said.
“There is more where that came from.”
I licked my lips, sated.
Aria took a more ladylike approach, sipping hers through a thin straw. I wiped a hand down my face, feeling at peace.
“This is fun,” Aria said.
“Good. The best date so far?”
“I don’t make comparisons. You don’t need to either.”
I laughed.
“That’s where you’re wrong. We’re going to make comparisons. It’s what we do.”
I leaned against the wall Billy had around the edge of his bar. We’d moved a good distance away from all the noise. Couples were around the garden, making out, having fun. This was what I loved about Billy’s. There was no bullshit here. It all felt… real. I liked the normalcy of everything.
Life back home and at All Saints, it didn’t feel right all the time. Like the selection and the initiation. I wasn’t particularly comfortable with owning a woman of any kind. Aria was a beautiful woman, no doubt about it, but this wasn’t right. I knew that.
Also, the particulars of the past and the gaps that had opened up with the information Sebastian had discovered, didn't exactly breed comfort.
“You’re lost in thought,” she said.
“Nah, I’m thinking it’s nice to get away from all of that crap every once in a while.”
“I get that. Drew told me it’s why she never embraced the wealthy lifestyle. She had prospects.”
“Did she ever tell you about them?”
“No. She always said it wasn’t good to look back into the past.”
“Your nanny might be onto something.”
I sighed. There was so much I wanted to tell her, and yet there was not a single thing I could tell her.
Running a hand down my face, I felt the perspiration at my back as it covered my skin. The night was still young, and I wasn’t going to let it go.
“Can I do something?” Aria asked.
“You can do whatever the hell you like.”
She put her drink down on the table and turned to me. I did the same, giving her my full attention. She placed her hands on my face, and I stared down at her. Her pretty brown eyes filled my dreams.
“What do you want to do?”
“I’m not going to tell you.”
“You want to be all mysterious?” I asked.
She laughed.
“It’s not so mysterious. Close your eyes.”
Sliding my eyes closed, I waited.
Her hands never left my face, and as she pulled my face down, I followed without putting up a fight. The instant her lips grazed mine, I reached for her, not needing to see to hold my girl. Pulling her in close, I captured her lips, keeping mine closed as I ravished her mouth.
The little moan she released was everything. Sliding my tongue across the seam of her lips, I delved in, wanting to get inside this woman. How had I missed this girl? How had I let her nearly slip through our fingers?
Realizations like this made me so f*****g happy for the selection. Our dads must have known how special she was.
I knew for a fact I wasn’t going to let her go. Not ever. Not even if The Society ordered us to.
