Life, as they say, is never content with just giving happiness; it always finds ways to multiply it. The news of the second pregnancy filled the household with a new wave of excitement and anticipation. While Lian was the pride and joy, this new baby felt like a sweet bonus, a confirmation that their love was still growing and blooming even after years of marriage.
Elara carried this child with more confidence this time. She knew what to expect. She knew the aches, the cravings, and the wonders. But still, every pregnancy is a unique miracle, and this one felt just as special as the first.
Liam, who had been nervous and fussy during the first pregnancy, was now a calm and experienced protector. He knew exactly what to do, exactly what Elara needed, and exactly how to handle the situation.
🎬 SCENE: THE LITTLE BIG BROTHER
Setting: The living room. Afternoon.
Lian, now six years old, was standing in front of his mother, looking at her growing belly with wide eyes full of curiosity and importance.
"So, there is really a baby inside there?" he asked, pointing his small finger. "A real brother or sister?"
"Yes, anak," Elara smiled, patting his head. "Very soon, they will come out and play with you."
Lian frowned slightly, thinking seriously. "Will they be small? Like... this small?" he held up his thumb and index finger.
"A little bigger than that," Liam laughed, joining them. "But yes, they will be tiny. And you, Lian, you will be the Big Brother. You have to protect them. You have to teach them things. You are their hero now."
Lian puffed out his chest, looking proud. "I will be the best hero! I will share my toys! I will not let anyone hurt them!"
"That is my boy," Elara beamed, pulling him into a hug. "You have such a good heart, just like your Mama."
"And just like your Papa," Liam added, kissing both of them.
🎬 SCENE: THE DAY OF BIRTH
Setting: The private hospital room. Late night / Early morning.
The time came faster than expected. The contractions started, strong and rhythmic. Elara was brave, breathing deeply, holding Liam’s hand tightly.
"You can do this, love," Liam whispered, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "You are the strongest woman I know. Just like when you worked in the fields, you are strong now."
"I am doing this for us, Liam," she gritted through the pain, smiling. "For our family."
The doctors and nurses were efficient and kind. The room was filled with the soft beeping of machines and the encouraging voices.
And then, after hours of waiting and effort, a loud, strong cry filled the room.
Waaaaah! Waaaaah!
It was a sound of life, of health, of pure victory.
"It's a girl!" the doctor announced happily. "A beautiful baby girl!"
Elara fell back against the pillows, exhausted but smiling through tears. Liam cut the cord, then took their little daughter in his arms. She was tiny, pink, and perfect. She had Elara’s delicate features and Liam’s dark hair.
"Hello, little one," Liam whispered, his voice breaking with emotion. "Welcome to the world. You have a big family waiting to love you."
They named her Isabela Rose. A combination of her mother’s real name and the flower she loved so much.
🎬 SCENE: MEETING THE SIBLING
Setting: The hospital room. The next day.
Manuel, Rosa, and the Montemayors were already there, cooing over the new baby. Then, Liam brought in Lian.
Lian walked slowly, looking at the tiny bundle in the crib. He leaned over, looking very carefully.
"She is so small," he whispered. "And she looks so soft."
"Do you want to hold her?" Elara asked gently.
Lian shook his head quickly, stepping back. "No! I might break her! She is like a doll!"
Everyone laughed. "You won't break her," Liam said, guiding Lian’s hand to touch her tiny cheek gently. "See? She is strong."
The baby opened her eyes slightly, looking at her brother. Lian’s face lit up with a smile so pure and beautiful.
"Hi," he whispered to her. "I am Lian. I am your Kuya. I will protect you always."
It was a moment captured in time. The brother and sister, bound by blood, bound by love, starting their journey together.
Elara looked at her family—her husband, her son, her daughter, her two sets of parents. She had everything. A complete family. A complete heart.
