Picking up the Pieces

"The sun's about to crack the sky. Let's go for a stroll." said tha healer. Luna unconsciously nodded as she watched the stillness of the gray clouds. The sun is slowly painting it rose-pink. "This day feels promising." "That's why you must get up to get the best out of it. You don't really want to lose any chances you have." "Right about that!" she answered with a smirk. They walked side by side with the calming rustle of their happy feet. Chirping of birds and dancing leaves in tune. Steady stream of vapor from their mouths. The wind kept up and started biting. "I think it may not be the best idea to stroll. It's freezing here." "You'll have to get used to it until you can go back to home. That's pretty much the ecosystem we have here. That's the norm." "Waaah! This will get a lot of getting used to." "Definitely. Now, why don't we start our day and explain this to me?" "Ahhh... the stupid work of art." "How so?" "That's pretty much me trying to draw up how I understand what the book tries to comprehend." "And what does it mostly say?" "You would have to start from the points of energy on your body" 'That did sound right', the healer thought. "And I studied how each line would break and bend to form a sentence. Or basically a command." "Would you mind expounding it?" "Sure! So, I started looking for answers when I started feeling creeped out from out of the blue." She didn't have an idea what she feelt then. "Slowly from then, I'm seeing my hands silhouetted in different colors. I thought I was just dizzy or the sun was just too bright, and it made a mess of my sight." "Have you fainted from it?" "Nice!" Luna agreed surpriaingly. "You really know your stuff! I did thrice. That's when I researched it. The doctors said that I will be fine and my blood is just to low. Which made sense but not, totally." "Uhuh?" Luna examines her eyes and posture, trying to gauge how she's accepting her story. "Keep on going," the healer demands averting her eyes from her. "There were things beyond normal that I would just see. It was fine at first. Maybe I was just unlocking some of the mysteries of the world. I mean OUR world. But every day, it escalates to something incomprehensible for me." The healer breathes her in as she watches her reactions while she explains. "Let's pause for a moment. Let me ask you this; did you follow one of those and come up here?" "How did you---?!" Luna responded. Once more caught in shock as to how easy the healer can read her. The healer nodded to herself in contentment. Silence reigned for a couple of minutes and Luna was on the edge. "Could you help me, please? I really wanted to understand whatever was going on." "We can work on that. Now, do you still remember how you did that?" She pointed to the mess left on the ground, burnt with complicated graphs. "I recall arriving from there, but that doesn't look like the one I made." "I needed to change it and... well, I have to remove your tracks. We don't really know yet what mess you got yourself into." "I have told you basically all there is. Just some details, but that's the whole reason I'm here." "You may be right about that. However, we don't know who you may have alerted because of it. You were too reckless. This stuff is no joke. It's not something you can get away with just because you were curious about it and innocent. Do you get that?" Luna tries to reason out in her head that she needs it to have a peace of mind. Yet, she also understands that the consequences may have been beyond what she could imagine and hopes that she's wrong. "Thank you!" Luna said in resignation. "Again?" "Yes, again. And again." She stares deeply into her eyes. Adoration fills her heart and she can't help being grateful. "You saved me before you even knew me. You may have just saved me from dying alone somewhere here unknown to this world and no one would have ever known I existed." The healer felt a surge of pain in her heart as she felt compassion for this lost soul. She strokes her hair and tucks it behind her ear. "And I don't regret any of it. I'm grateful I did it." Luna could not hold back anymore the tears welling in her eyes and she broke down in tears. Realizing the gravity of her actions and how complicated her situation might have been had she not gotten any help. "I'm happy I'm alive." She managed to whisper it as she looked at her with thankful eyes and grateful voice. "If this makes you feel relieved; I will do it again and again." They let the moment stretch to what feels like eternity. Leaving the sobs ringing in the air. Letting the wind carry the weight from their shoulders and waiting for the menace to leap out of her chest. 'She has been the kindest I've met here so far.' That very thought made her giggle and the healer couldn't help but ask it. "What was it?" "I thought that you'd been the kindest person I met here. But then again, I haven't really met anyone else but you and your apprentice. Hahahahah!" The healer being as stoic as ever responded. "Don't get too used to it. I believe it may be the same thing from where you came from. There will always be two sides of the coin. Always tread carefully, alright?" "Yes. Will do." They waited until the sun revealed the blue sky. A shade of calmness that brings peace to this hour. Breathing in every moment and preparing for the storm to come. "This may be the last peace we will have in the meantime, if I'm really going to help you. Are you sure about this?" "Never been more sure." ======= Alba went back to Luna's room. She fires up her server and calmly wait for it to boot. The swirling of fans touches her sanity. It's sound brews up the clarity of what she needs to do. "Wait for me, Luna. I will bring light to this. Just hang in there. " Minutes passed and her breathing steadies. Her mind is clearer than ever before in a while. "Time to work!" She opened the server that has no password and opened the only file on the screen. Windows pop-up after another and she waited for it to stop. She trusts Luna's words and same as with this boot. "I know you wouldn't let me open it unless you know I can handle this." In a few minutes a screen popped up with a question that brightens her night. "Enter the missing piece: Ipomea ____ blooms under the moonlight" She blushingly enters her name. More files opened up and slowly flashes her eyes the similar images Luna had shown her before. Flashbacks of her childhood rushes to her eyes. But the most vivid was when Luna startee to float and screaming to me. "Close your eyes, Alba! Close it now!" She's screming on top of her lungs while suspended in the air. 'I can't move. What's going on?" By then, Luna drew something in the air and lights follow her every stroke. She keeps murmuring something but the last I heard was my something like my name. Alba, got knocked off the chair and fell on the floor. The shock brought her back to her senses and she scrambled back to the chair and read through the rest of the diagrams and how it is drawn.
