“Hey, there you are!” Julia said, sliding her arm around Logan’s waist and settling in as he looped his arm around her shoulders. He had been talking with Sue, the principal of the school, who excused herself and left them alone.
Julia lifted her hand, admiring the diamond engagement ring Logan had slipped on her finger seven days before. She kept playing with it in the light, holding it up and loving the feel of the small rock.
“So have you told everyone yet?” he asked her teasingly before he bent down to kiss her.
“I told Ruth and everyone who came into the cafe, so I’m sure everyone in town knows by now,” she said. The lights flickered in the school gym, which was doubling as an auditorium.
“I guess we better take our seats. Where’re the girls?” Logan asked.
