TANISHA I was finally let in, after nearly an hour. An entire geological era. I might have dozed off at some point, my cheek felt… damp. Unemployed and drooling in public? This must be rock bottom. Christof’s office door closed behind me with that same quiet, expensive click. The sound alone made my shoulders tense. Too familiar, too many ghosts. So many mental images I absolutely did not consent to remembering. I gagged. It wasn’t intentional, my body just did it on its own. I forced my brain to stop replaying Pepa bent over that desk, like it was a prop in a very expensive porn set. I shoved the image into a mental dumpster, lit it on fire, and turned my attention forward. Christof sat behind the desk like it was a throne. One arm draped lazily, posture relaxed, perfectly composed.
