Fiancé…
That word just keeps repeating in her head. She knew her father was eager for her to leave and be someone else’s burden, but she didn’t know this was what he was thinking. Getting together a marriage alliance take time, months, years maybe. How had he gotten her a fiancé so quick, and why did he have to announce it on her birthday. She knew he didn’t like her because she reminded him too much of her mother, but she didn’t think it was enough for him to sell her to another alpha.
After a while, Kathrin realised she had been staring with her mouth open for a bit too long. Suddenly, she doesn’t have control of her voice, Jazmine took over, enraged.
“what about my fated mate! You can’t just hand me over to someone else!” after Jazmine finished, still fuming, she let Kathrin regain control.
After her out burst, Kat ran out of the office, making her way to her room as fast as she could. She knew she was acting childish, but she just couldn’t stand the thought of being with anyone but her mate. Facing her door, she flung it open and slammed it shut. Pacing in front of her bed, the word fiancé rolling around in her head.
What about our mate! Whined Jazmine, beyond sad and frustrated.
“I know, what was he thinking!” she responds her wolf out loud.
Since pacing did nothing to help her clear her head, she decided to take a well needed shower, thinking it might help. Making her way towards her personal bathroom, she locked herself in and took a breath. After turning on the water, making sure it was the right temperature, she undressed and got in. the hot jet of water, calming the tension in her shoulders a little bit.
Kat stayed in the shower longer than needed, and she only left because she had used up all the hot water. Drying off and wrapping her towel around herself she went to her room to get some clothes.
Only when she opened the door, there was somebody already there, waiting for her, and sitting on her bed. When he noticed her he stood up and stared at her, ogling her long legs.
“what are you doing in my room? And who are you? What --” she said before smelling the most amazing smell. It was like pine and rain. Just like that, she was entranced. She couldn’t believe it this man before her was her mate! But just as fast as she was happy, she remembered her fathers plans and her mood was automatically deflated.
“Mine!” he said in a possessive way.
All she could do was agree with him nodding her head. Screw what her father had planned for her, this was her mate, like hell she would let him get away.
They stood there for a while longer, just looking at the other. And then he spoke:
“my name is Jared, your fiancé.” He said, in a gruff tone, trying hard not to move and pull her in his arms.
She couldn’t believe what he just said, her mouth popping open. She didn’t know how she didn’t smell him the moment she went in the office. She felt so stupid, having an outburst in front of her mate. She still couldn’t wrap her mind around it. Her mate was the one her father had chosen for her to wed.
“if you don’t want me pouncing on you, you should put on some clothes, I’m having trouble holding back my wolf.” Jared said, interrupting her thoughts.
Looking down, she realised she was still, only in her towel. Blushing she made her way to her drawer and picked out some clothes. Making her way to the bathroom, her cheeks reddened even more from the heat of her mate’s gaze on her back.
